Why is this project necessary? Currently, the Brent Spence Bridge and the I-71/I-75 corridor support a level of use that far exceeds its original design. Specific problems include growing traffic congestion, safety concerns, and design deficiencies. ODOT and KYTC have initiated the study of the rehabilitation of the I-71/I-75 corridor, including the Brent Spence Bridge, to increase capacity and improve safety in this critical transportation corridor.
How can the public provide input?
Interested parties can contact stakeholders on the Advisory Committee for their community or business or call the project hotline at (513) 639-2172. A form is available on the website to submit feedback to the project team concerning the project.
Have any alternatives been decided upon yet?
Only conceptual alternative solutions have been identified at this time. Alternatives have been selected for further development and study. Some alternatives were dismissed based on their ability to meet purpose and need and stakeholders goals and measures of success.
When will construction take place?
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2015 following construction of the ODOT sponsored I-75 Thru the Valley and I-75 Mill Creek Expressway projects.
How does this project relate to other I-75 projects occurring?
The Brent Spence Bridge Replacement/Rehabilitation Project will connect to the current I-75 Mill Creek Expressway Project. Both projects overlap at the Western Hills Viaduct interchange.
