(Reuters) - Solyndra LLC's chief executive and chief financial officer will invoke their Fifth Amendment rights and decline to answer any questions put to them at a Congressional hearing on Friday, according to letters from their attorneys obtained by Reuters. In the letters sent to the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, attorneys for Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison and CFO W. G. Stover said they advised their clients not to provide testimony during the hearings. The bankrupt company's $535 million federal loan guarantee is being investigated by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Harrison is represented by Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and Stover is represented by Keker & Van Nest. Solyndra's offices were raided by the FBI two days after the company filed for bankruptcy, although the FBI did not say what prompted the raid. Republicans should ask themselves that every day in shame.
With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction.
Haliburton exec's did testify before congress, dumbass. and they didn't plead the 5th.

It wasn’t all that long ago when someone with left leaning tendencies would spit out the word “Halliburton” at any mention of President George W. Bush. It became an epithet. HALLIBURTON! That was it, all conversation regarding politics was supposed to come to a halt at the utterance of the word – for some strange reason it was the left’s creepy trump card. Fast forward to 2010. The One is in office. Mr. HopeandChange. So, what has Captain Kool Aid done about Halliburton? Why, he’s given them a no-bid contract, of course. Is Dick Cheney secretly still in government? Or, is Halliburton one of the few contractors who can get the job done? Either Halliburton is the son of Satan, or the left was wrong in demonizing them in the first place. They can’t have it both ways. Either they were right, and Halliburton is evil incarnate and The One – their one - is supporting such evil; or they were wrong in the first place and should just shut up. Either way, they really should shut up.
Every day this scandal gets worse for the administration.

The joke's on you, AmericaBloomberg Businessweek: KBR Inc. [aka Halliburton] was selected for a no-bid contract worth as much as $568 million through 2011 for military support services in Iraq, the Army said.The Army announced its decision yesterday only hours after the Justice Department said it will pursue a lawsuit accusing the Houston-based company of taking kickbacks from two subcontractors on Iraq-related work. The Army also awarded the work to KBR over objections from members of Congress, who have pushed the Pentagon to seek bids for further logistics contracts.
