34% say country would be better off under Hillary Clinton: poll

By Kase Wickman
Friday, September 16th, 2011 -- 3:33 pm

More than a third of Americans said that if Hillary Clinton had been elected president in 2008, the country would be in better shape than it is right now under President Barack Obama's leadership.

The Bloomberg poll showed that Clinton, currently serving as secretary of state, garnered a 64 percent favorability rating, making her the most popular national politician in the country.

Thirty-four percent expressed wishful thinking about a Clinton presidency, up from the 25 percent who responded the same in July 2010.

In the 2008 election, Obama won the majority of delegates necessary to clinch the Democratic nomination after the primaries. During the drawn-out primary battle, Clinton actually won the popular vote, though Obama won 29 states to her 21.

Only 13 percent of respondents said that things would be worse under a Clinton White House.

It's not just Democrats expressing buyers' remorse either: 39 percent of Republicans said that Clinton would run the country better than Obama has.

“Some of her appeal is that she is not Barack Obama,” said J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., the group that conducted poll.

No matter what the public's opinion of her, any wishful thinking will remain a fantasy.

“It’s below zero,” Clinton told CNN when asked about the chance of her challenging Obama in 2012. “One of the great things about being secretary of state is I am out of politics. I am not interested in being drawn back into it by anybody.”

I made this point in 2008.

I thought it was funny when Hillary was losing originally. They both suck. McCain sucked too. Palin has potential.

Palin has potential.

Palin's 15 minutes came and went. Hillary's stock has risen as Secretary of State while Obama's stock has fallen. I made the point some months back that Hillary would make the stronger candidate this time around. The GOP, with its weak field, is probably happy they are not running against her.

LOL!

What a load of BULLSHIT.

Governor Palin isn't even an announced candidate and who are the libTURDS in a FRENZY over?

They don't ever tell us who they FEAR most do they councilor?

Hitlery is TOAST.

Sec State is a DEAD end job.

Go ahead, name all of the SecStates who later went on to be elected president in all of American history.

"Weak" GOP field?

LOL! What a LOAD of DNC/MinistryofTruth/libTURD crap!

Any of those people in the GOP primary would BEAT the wee little failed man child messiah "king" right now.

AND any of them would be orders of magnitudes BETTER for America than obammy would be.

F it.

I'm pissing into the breeze.

"America, killed by a THEORY."

But don't worry man, YOUR children will make real good slaves.

And most importantly, when THEY needed you, you were PURE, and that's what really counts isn't it?

Half-term Governor Palin is not running, will not run, would not win the nomination were she to run, and would likely ensure GOP failure if she were to be the candidate. She is manifestly, overwhelmingly incompetent. The Dems would love to run against Palin.

Hillary is not running and will not run. The only way she could run is if Obama were to drop out. Had Obama decided not to run and had she been running, Hillary would have been a formidable candidate. As I said, "they are not running against her."

The GOP frontrunners are Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. With the current economic/jobs climate, Obama should not even be competitive. That he is competitive with the GOP frontrunners speaks loudly to their inherent weakness.

It's Secretaries of State, and the burden of naming them should be shared. I will go first.

Thomas Jefferson.

Your turn.

And one must give props to the State Department under Hillary for its role in bringing some limited sense of sanity to occasionally considering the interests of the United States before those of the Hitlerian Neo-Nazis who have seized control of the Israeli government and whose thuggish misbehavior and war crimes have led to isolation, international condemnation, and to the brink of Palestinian recognition, praise Allah the merciful and the insane zionists.
