What I think tonight is less important than what Joe Lieberman, Bill Clinton, Evan Bayh, and the rest of the former, and now defunct, reasonable wing of the Democratic Party is thinking tonight. When Weiner was in office, he was pro Israel's Likudnik right wing govt even though he was a liberal at home. For example, Weiner took on the Likudnik position on Turkey as his own and went ballistic against Turkey during the flotilla fiasco. That kind of think can only make sense if you understand that the parts of Brooklyn that District is made up of is linked to Israel very directly. I am not a registered Democrat nor do I live there and Turner's policies on Israel will be no different than Weiner's was or the D guy that lost would have been. I do find it funny you guys seeing this as some sort of triumph - same as when the Democrats viewed winning that seat in upstate NY against a Republican as a triumph for the Democrats.
