Due to 'lack of room', NYPD, Port Authority Police Officers, FDNY & EMS workers are not 'invited' to the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero. Funny - they weren't invited on that day in 2001, they just 'showed up' when everyone else was running out and became our heroes.
I can't accept a general indictment of everyone listed here that isn't a fireman Stone.
We tend to notice, then focus exclusively on the comparatively rare examples of 'bad' in these lines of work because they affect us directly, and are funded by our tax dollars directly in most cases.
The fact is the overwhelming majority of LEO's are actually very good at their jobs, don't come close to the 'jackbooted thugs' Brian S fantasizes about a couple of times per week here in your forum. Same for Port Authority or EMS workers.
They just don't show up in the news, and aren't part of the 'I hate cops' brigade's postings because its counter their narrow viewpoint.
