Ron Paul is an embarrassment, and his ego driven campaigning for POTUS takes up valuable time.

I've got a better chance winning both the GOP nomination, AND the general election cycle than this increasingly incoherent, arrogant, crank.

I don't think Bachman can or will win the nomination.

Perry supporeted Al Gore. That waa right after Reagan.

Romney governed as a liberal Rebpulican.

I for one am not voting for any Rinos.

So if Ron Paul doesn't win I will have to vote third party.

So you folks that don't support Ron Paul better get on board unless you want 4 more years of Obama.

People who call themselves Republicans but don't support Ron Paul. You know what that tells me. It tells me that constitutional domestic issues are trumped by the desire for wars with other countries.

Not sure I agree with your premise regarding "RINOS"

It seems, based on the performance of elected republicans, that the GOP favors big government, big donors, big social programs, open borders and killing large numbers of people. That defines a republican.

The RINO is Ron Paul - just my opinion -

"So if Ron Paul doesn't win I will have to vote third party."

Ron Paul is the only "republican" I will vote for - if he is not the gop candidate - I will vote for gridlock.

So you folks that don't support Ron Paul better get on board unless you want 4 more years of Obama.

Just wait until sarah palin jumps into the race as the "tea party candidate"

Actually the GOP as the party now representing the elite and big business IS the original version. And why it was so unpopular for most of it's history.

Stone..seriously, after 45 minutes, Ron Paul was having trouble speaking COHERENTLY. Forget what he was saying, go back and just watch him stutter, watch as he struggles to focus.

I think the man is brilliant in many aspects. But I damn sure don't want him anywhere near the Oval Office except for a photo op. He's so far past his prime it actually became painful to watch and hear him in the last 30 minutes last night.

As for how any of them 'governed'...my friend, we are so far past 'conservative' or 'liberal' at this moment as a nation. You know I'm a conservative on almost every topic you can name...but we don't have the time or luxuary for 'ideology'.

We have to get back to BUSINESS, and in a hurry. This country is bleeding out financially, the average American is now frightened when they consider their personal future five years out, let alone in retirement, if they even still believe they'll be able to 'retire'.

Ron Paul has ZERO CHANCE of being elected to anything, anything at all outside of his weird district in Texas. He's a political cult leader, thats it. Thats not to say he isn't right on a few things. He is. But he's so far wrong on some very big issues its truly stunning he's on that stage as a nominee.

unny, from what I was listening to this morning, NOBODY mentioned this question...

You KNOW I'm holding my breath, waiting for that news to hit the MSM...

I was surprised at those results as it seemed only a few questions went to Ron Paul. The bulk of the time was spent, unsurprisingly, with Perry and Romney. Paul did have some good lines.

HARRIS: Thank you. Congressman Paul, another question from a Politico reader. Do you advocate getting rid of the minimum wage? Would that create more jobs?

PAUL: Absolutely. And it would help the poor, the people who need a job. The minimum wage is a mandate. We're against mandates, so why should we have it? No, it would be very beneficial. But I was trying to get your attention a little while ago. There's eight of us up here. I'm a physician, but you sure weren't going to ask me any medical question. But I would like to address that just a little bit. First off, you know, the governor of Texas criticized the governor of Massachusetts for Romneycare, but he wrote a really fancy letter supporting Hillarycare. So we probably ought to ask him about that. But mandates, that's what the whole society is about. That's what we do all the time. That's what government does: mandate, mandate, mandate. And what we -- we talk so much about the Obama mandate, which is very important, but what about Medicare? Isn't that a mandate? Everything we do is a mandate. So this is why you have to look at this at the cause of liberty. We don't need the government running our lives. And I -- I do want to address the subject of $2 oil or gasoline, because I can do it much better than that. I can get you a gallon of gasoline for a dime.

HARRIS: Time. Time. Thank you, Congressman.

PAUL: Well, I've got to finish the sentence. You didn't give me time before.

(CROSSTALK)

HARRIS: These are rules that all of you agreed to that Brian...

ROMNEY: Let's hear that.

(CROSSTALK)

HARRIS: Finish the sentence, or you're all done?

PAUL: OK, I'm going to finish the sentence then.

HARRIS: Quickly, please.

PAUL: OK, you can buy a gallon of gasoline today for a silver dime. A silver dime is worth $3.50. It's all about inflation and too many regulations.

HARRIS: Good. Thank you, sir.

- - -

WILLIAMS: Well, let me ask you about something else. It's related in a way, has to do with Mother Nature. Before the broadcast, Senator Santorum's got flooding today in Pennsylvania, Governor Perry is just back from the wildfires, out east, a Category 1 laid waste to entire areas. There's standing water tonight in Paterson, New Jersey, many of the towns around where I live, eight days without power. We had people eating in outdoor and public parks because the supermarkets were closed down. The question is, federal aid, something like FEMA, if you object to what its become, how it's run, your position is to -- is to remove it, take it away, abolish it. What happens in its absence?

PAUL: Well, what happened before 1979? We didn't have FEMA. And that -- FEMA just conditioned people to build where they shouldn't be building. We lose the market effect of that. But, yeah, my position is, we should have never had it. There's a much better way of doing it. I mean, this whole idea that the federal government can deal with weather and anything in the world, just got to throw a government there -- FEMA's broke. They're $20 billion in debt. But I'm not for saying tomorrow close it down. A lot of people pay the insurance. I work real hard to make it work, and I did that in my district, too. But I'll tell you how we should do it. We're spending -- believe it or not, this blew my mind when I read this -- $20 billion a year for air conditioning in Afghanistan and Iraq in the tents over there and all the air conditioning. Cut that $20 billion out, bring in -- take $10 off the debt, and put $10 into FEMA or whoever else needs it, child health care or whatever. But I'll tell you what, if we did that and took the air conditioning out of the Green Zone, our troops would come home, and that would make me happy.

(APPLAUSE)

I love Ron Paul. I volunteered for him in 1988.

But he is looking more and more decrepit every day.

He's not a young man.

He's not going to be elected President.

Who is his heir apparent?

It could have been Gary Johnson who was the Governor of New Mexico. Unfortunately, because Paul is in the race, Johnson isn't showing up in the polls so he isn't invited to the debates.

Ron Paul is a great, honorable man.

But he has never been a good public speaker. Never.

I also had a hard time following his train of thought last night.

After his last couple of debate performances, I suspect that his age is also playing a factor here.

He's aged a lot in the last 4 years. He hasn't looked good on stage at all this year.

I feel sad, but we all get old. I think it was a mistake for Paul to run this year. He should have endorsed Gary Johnson.

Full agreement on this. The simple fact is this is another vanity run by Ron Paul, nothing more, nothing less. He knows he has absolutely no chance of being elected, he knows he has no chance of being taken seriously by anyone beyond the cult of personality, such as it is, that worships him.

No, this is not a vanity run. Unlike most politicians, Ron Paul actually believes in something.

His decades in office have shown him that very few other people can be trusted to follow their rhetoric.

Ron Paul is running to educate others. He has had a huge impact. Who besides Ron Paul has been pushing for an audit of the secretive operations of the Federal Reserve over the last few years? No one. Now, everyone is on board with shedding some light on their operations to make them more transparent and accountable.

None of what you post here has anything to do with the insane assertion Ron Paul made that he's against securing the border effectively because it could be used to 'keep you in'.

Nobody is FLEEING, Stone. Which is what was happening before the Berlin Wall, which is WHY IT WAS BUILT.

This goes directly to the heart of Ron Paul's insanity. He's made ridiculous comparisions to the Cold War era twice in the last month, neither of which are remotely valid.

The other one was his assertion that the Soviet Union's nuclear arsenal during the Cold War was comparable to Iran's desire to obtain a nuclear weapon.

A wall of such length as that required by the US-Mexico border is not a practical solution. We need to build a strong, reliable system to enable employers to verify the legal authorization of someone to obtain employment within the United States, and accompany that with strong enough penalties against the employer to discourage hiring illegal employees.

Build it and they will leave.

We agree on this.

The fact is much of the terrain doesn't require a much of a physical barrier at all. And I've said for years penalties for corporations hiring illegals should be criminal in nature, and apply to CEO's, CFO's, and COO's. Substantial civil penalties for anyone on the Board of Directors not also among the previous 3 I cite here.

And a 100% tax on the previous years profits and the year the offense was discovered.

btw, we already have a strong, verifiable system for ensuring the applicants are legal. There just isn't any penalty for not using it worht mentioning.

All you need is a driver's license and Social Security card to get a job.

Many state governments enable illegals to get drivers' licenses. There is a huge black market for Social Security cards.

So, on top of the world's most complicated tax code and regulatory structure, that are crushing business, you now also want to jail CEOs, CFO's and COO's for hiring people with driver's licenses and Social Security cards, that maybe might be illegal.

This will be another reason for businesses not to hire anyone and instead move their operations to Mexico.

Welcome to Obama-land. Have fun.

Neo-cons just don't get it. They are stupid as leftists. Oh wait, most neo- cons started off in life as leftists. Doh!!!

Did neo-cons change or did they merely re-label themselves to defeat conservatives from within and control both sides of the public debate?

Ron Paul lacks great rhetorical skill but, on the other hand, he does not sound like an actor with good hair delivering lines from a script written by a handler.

The fact is much of the terrain doesn't require a much of a physical barrier at all. This from someone who lives in Ohio.

Ah...and your point?

Its based upon my profession, JW. There are vast tracts where a physical barrier (one that actually makes it difficult to cross) isn't whats called for due to the terrain, either on the exact 'border' or due to whats beyond it on our side of it. Its more effective to put up signage, and cover it with drones/camera's/etc in terms of cost and in terms of security.

Proxy IP's are amusing.....lmao

All you need is a driver's license and Social Security card to get a job.

Many state governments enable illegals to get drivers' licenses. There is a huge black market for Social Security cards.

Do you know WHY there is a 'huge black market' for Social Security cards?

Because we don't require employers to spend 45 cents to verify the number/card provided by applicants.

And thats a 50% mark up of the cost btw. Takes 30 seconds or less to get back the report, btw.

So that blows out of the water everything you wrote AFTER this question, JW.

That's an excellent point. Some of them did change their opinion on some things, but in two fundamental areas, they are still leftists.

First, both leftists and neo-cons still believe that the ends justify the means. So they will do anything to get what they want. We saw this with the lies that they neo-cons told while trying to justify the invasion of Iraq. Conservatives don't believe that the ends justify the means.

Second, both leftists and neo-cons resort to character assassination of the most vile kind when they are losing an argument. If you disagree with a leftist, you will be attacked as a racist, sexist, or homophobe. If you disagree with a neo- con, you will be attacked as an anti-Semite, just ask Ron Paul and Pat Buchanan about this.

You are correct, some neo-cons may have changed some of their views when they abandoned the Democrat party, but fundamentally, they are still leftists.
