Title: Christians Blast Bloomberg For Not Inviting God To 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

The atheists aren't the only ones making a stink about the goings-on at Ground Zero; the former Deputy Mayor under Rudy Giuliani is lambasting Mayor Bloomberg for excluding religion from the upcoming 10th anniversary ceremony at the World Trade Center. "This is America, and to have a memorial service where there's no prayer, this appears to be insanity to me," Rudy Washington tells the Wall Street Journal. "I feel like America has lost its way."

Bloomberg has never let spiritual leaders hold prayers or sermonize at any of the annual 9/11 gatherings, but Washington, who organized an interfaith ceremony at Yankee Stadium after the attack in 2001, says he's "very upset" Bloomberg isn't making an exception this year (it being the diamond anniversary and all). And Washington's not the only God-fearing fulminator: City Council Member Fernando Cabrera, a pastor at New Life Outreach International in the Bronx, says he's just plain "shocked" the clergy isn't on the list.

To be fair, it is quite an exclusive event this year; even Chris Christie had to practically beg to get a plus-one. "There are hundreds of important people that have offered to participate over the last nine years, but the focus remains on the families of the thousands who died on Sept. 11," Evelyn Erskine, a mayoral spokeswoman, tells the Journal. That's a very diplomatic statement, but we all know the real reason is the mayor doesn't want the headache of another atheist lawsuit.

Just goes to show how impotent the government is in the lives and faith of real Americans anymore. Churches will have their own services. I am attending one in my state. We don't need the government to sponsor worship. If Bloomberg doesn't want to make a stand for the God who has blessed the United States, then he better be prepared to pay the consequences. That's ok with me. Let him personally pay the consequences.

No matter what he does, he can't stop people from worshiping and praying.

If Bloomberg doesn't want to make a stand for the God who has blessed the United States...

has blessed - past tense? You mean on 9/11 God stopped blessing America?

No, I don't mean that at all. How silly. God still blesses those who say: God bless America. That is the way it has always worked.

Please goto an indigenous "Indian" reservation in the USA and tell the tribal chief whom suffers from diabetes, Alzheimer Disease, alcoholism. And, while you are at it, as you find time, please go down into a USA central city (ANYWHERE, USA) and tell the locals your remarckable conclusions.

In two simple and obvious cases I am sure you shall start a riot and it won't be laffing.

Are you serious? No you can not be a serious thinker.

You do know that I am Sioux and Cherokee... right? I am also NOT an Indian, that is such a bunch of PC crap. "Indeginious Indian" is also PC crap, fool~ and shows a total lack of understating. Indians are from India.

Get it right.. Tribal people are called by the tribe and their clan. I am Sioux, Cherokee and a Highlander of Scotland, and my ancestors were in the Sudbury Militia , at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. I know exactly what they were fighting about.

Step off, buck. You are a real fool sometimes.

PC- Indians- who know better.. (Pleaseeeee) Fool.

Are you serious? No you can not be a serious thinker.

Since you want to answer your own rhetorical questions, I should allow you to continue wondering about my truthful statements. But, I won't let you keep hanging.

This idea that "God is Good" under the condition that a creator is entirely faith based within say, the Christian faith or the Muslim faith or the Buddhist faith or the Hindu faith et al., is foolish to consider for most serious or critical thinking people. Now, don't misunderstand my viewpoint: religious faith in a creator is important to each and everyone but the idea that any single faith is more genuine, "godlike", divine and so forth is silly to me.

The history of the Christian faith is filled with hate-mongering more so than any other religion on the planet. It attempts to subject everyone to its interpretation of the creator and the fundamental purpose of mankind's being. And, you can verify this statement through the Holy Bible and where the Bible leaves off from "Revelations" the history of Man takes over from there to the present time.

The subjugation of land and peoples throughout history is as much a part of the Christian faith as it is today. I am afraid, although you are a devout Christian, that you just don't know what you are talking about.

As I said buck, you are a fool. You let the Devil keep you on the reservation, where you are confined and easily led.. and a victim of your own victimhood.

You have no ability to discern truth from fiction. Religion is indeed responsible for much violence throughout the history of the world.

But I am not talking about religion. I don't have a religion. No one in my family tree had a religion that I am aware of....

Faith is something you do not know about from your ancestral origins, from your knowledge of American history, from your knowledge of the Bible, from your knowledge of Jesus, or from your ability to have a critical thought.

The proof is in the pudding. My family tree is full of outrageous blessings and prosperity and good health ,for hundreds of years-and I believe, like they believed, that it is because we have favor with God.

Anyone can have favor with God, if they so choose. Seems you choose NOT to have favor- and much of your ancestry chose NOT to have favor.

I know exactly what I am talking about. You are a victim of revisionist history.

You are a victim of revisionist history.

So, the love of the Christian God, spreading joy and good cheer around the world because of the central thrust of manifest destiny is revisionist?

Have you ever studied any attribute or the ramifications of and about the Christian faith over the last 2000 years? Or any others?

Now, despite two consecutive posts by yourself to show how exceptional your own family is does not discount the world wide influences that religion has played out upon ALL civilization. In the case of modern America, the Christian faith imposes a fundamental political force into international policies and that same religious force has gotten America into a lot of trouble, today.

Firstly, there is one God. The major religions of the world are talking about the same God, the God of Abraham.

Christ followers are disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus, was a human, who had a three year ministry- over 2,000 years ago- who walked the Earth and told us HOW to worship the God of Abraham. He died on a cross, from a horrible death- because humans were manipulating the word of God, for their own greed and power.

Jesus was willing to die a death, that was so horrific- and is remembered over 2,000 years later- so that people like you could hear about how much he didn't want humans to manipulate the word of God.

That doesn't mean that *religious* people are all going to stop- BUT someone will come along one day and tell you to disregard the *religious* and go open a Bible for yourself. AND someone just did.

Most world religions recognize Jesus as a great man and a great prophet, at the very least. Where we disagree is how much credibility he has as having been born of the spirit of God. Go and google the book of Romans and start reading.

Christ followers believe he was directly given to us, by the hand of God and filled with GOd, to teach us how to worship God.

Those of us who believe that have been blessed and healed beyond measure- so figure that one out. WHy do you think people are willing to die, to stand up for the name of Jesus. (Because we know the blessings and where they come from).

Ask yourself why people would choose actual, painful death- over renouncing the name of Jesus? And not just a few people, either..

Some people, in history chose to be nailed to a cross and left to die- rather than renounce Jesus. That is historical fact.. not fantasy.

It is Jesus, who is the one who tells us to give up religion, and who rebukes the religious leaders- and tells us to go straight to him- and love one another, because that is what God wants. Jesus is the one who was led to the slaughter by the religious- because he was taking their power way.

Educate yourself.

Jesus was a rebel and a free thinker- whose sole purpose was to set our spirits free from the destructive manipulations of other humans- who did not, themselves, understand the character of God, and did not love us.

I am sorry that you do not understand that humans will try to manipulate you with all sorts of labels and words and fancy ceremonies called religion.

I am sorry that you do not open a Bible and read it for yourself and find that Jesus is not the person you have been led to think he is.

That shows your laziness and your foolishness to not find out for yourself, WHO Jesus is and what he was saying. But that is not the case for every American. Some of us get it. Don't blame us for our prosperity and peace. You could have it too.

Bibles are free in most places- you can research online for yourself- and yet you continue to repeat your ignorance, and be held captive to other people's thoughts on the matter.

AND you will die that way, into meaninglessness- because you never took the time to think for yourself.

Firstly, there is one God. The major religions of the world are talking about the same God, the God of Abraham.

Please show this statement more clearly as I am truly impressed with your statement.

Interesting summary. I would watch out for Christian zealots to smack you down on this statement, if I were you.

Jesus was willing to die a death, that was so horrific- and is remembered over 2,000 years later- so that people like you could hear about how much he didn't want humans to manipulate the word of God.

He was? Exactly how do you know this?

That doesn't mean that *religious* people are all going to stop- BUT someone will come along one day and tell you to disregard the *religious* and go open a Bible for yourself. AND someone just did.

You are very kind when you want to be and thank you for the recommendation. I regard most of the Holy Bible as a family summarary wherein someone begat someone else and then begat someone else... I become bored.

Most world religions recognize Jesus as a great man and a great prophet, at the very least. Where we disagree is how much credibility he has as having been born of the spirit of God. Go and google the book of Romans and start reading.

I can't today, too busy.

Christ followers believe he was directly given to us, by the hand of God and filled with GOd, to teach us how to worship God.

That is very nice. I think it is a good idea too as they need a model for self-emulation.

Those of us who believe that have been blessed and healed beyond measure- so figure that one out. WHy do you think people are willing to die, to stand up for the name of Jesus. (Because we know the blessings and where they come from).

Beats me. Other than their convictions are fairely substantial. Didn't you enjoy the historical fact about the Spanish Inquisitions?

It is Jesus, who is the one who tells us to give up religion, and who rebukes the religious leaders- and tells us to go straight to him- and love one another, because that is what God wants. Jesus is the one who was led to the slaughter by the religious- because he was taking their power way.

Well, tell all the Christian believers to quit going to church on Sunday then. That should stop the devil right there at the pulpit!

Educate yourself.

Well, I am educating myself about you.... that is a fact.

Jesus was a rebel and a free thinker- whose sole purpose was to set our spirits free from the destructive manipulations of other humans- who did not, themselves, understand the character of God, and did not love us.

He was kinda pissed, actually.

I am sorry that you do not understand that humans will try to manipulate you with all sorts of labels and words and fancy ceremonies called religion.

What makes you think you are not manipulated?

I am sorry that you do not open a Bible and read it for yourself and find that Jesus is not the person you have been led to think he is.

I can't today.

That shows your laziness and your foolishness to not find out for yourself, WHO Jesus is and what he was saying. But that is not the case for every American. Some of us get it. Don't blame us for our prosperity and peace. You could have it too.

I suppose my laziness shines right on through, correct?

Bibles are free in most places- you can research online for yourself- and yet you continue to repeat your ignorance, and be held captive to other people's thoughts on the matter.

I am sure I have a Holy Bible around here, someplace, right next to the Book of Mormon and Bhagavad G+t and The Egyptian Book of the Dead and a few others.

AND you will die that way, into meaninglessness- because you never took the time to think for yourself.

One way or another, I think everyone gasps for their last breath of aire on this planet Earth. I note: not even Jesus Christ got out of here alive.

One last point, buck... you should at the very least read the gospel of John, before you die.

Here is one of many links- don't like this- find your own- or just get a Bible and read it there.

www.thatyoumightknow.com/gospel-of-john/

If you have questions, and want to talk about that- you could find a local pastor to talk to, or anyone online who has stood up for God- and ask your questions.

You should at least give it an honest chance- before you go around denouncing Christ- and telling people what God has and has not done- as if you are some expert on what Christians do and do not believe.

Read it for yourself and ask your own questions, from your own thought process- based upon your own experiences.

Otherwise you are just another lazy fool.

Thanks for the advice. I want to know how you feel about Hagee, Palin and Beck. That would be helpful to move the discussion back towards topic.

I hope you take the advice, buck. AND Back on topic? I was addressing your posts- do you now want to introduce a new topic?

:)

That is silly, but ok.

I love Glenn Beck, and would hang out with him. I love his over the top passion, and he makes me laugh. I love his bravado, because I like that in men- I like that he has had a full life and has some interesting stories- I like that he is an entertainer- and he entertains me. I like that he has turned his life around from a bad place. I like that he gets American history like I do. I don't watch him on TV, because I don't watch TV, but on occasion I will read his posts.

Not a big fan of Sarah, altho I like her bravado and I like that she stands for something. I would not vote for her for president, because I don't think she has enough worldly experience. I think she is a talking head, and pretty good at that according to her ratings, BUT her voice annoys me- so I don't listen.

I don't know who Hagee is.

Hagee is BOTH Palin's and Beck's religious mentor. In fact, Hagee and Beck are in Israel right now talking about how Israel should steal all the land the zionists want from Palestine territories in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.

Makes you feel real good, doesn't it?

Well, I don't think I can really trust your take on it, since you just have an agenda and lack wisdom- BUT do I think the palies could use a bit more Jesus?? Ummm.. yes, I do. I think everyone can use a bit more Jesus.

Anyway, Glen Beck is a pretty handsome guy.

He is fun to look at- prolly fun to hang out with- and since he is not my personal god, he can all as many opinions as he wants to have- and I don't need to read them all.

If you don't worship Mr. Beck- then what do you care what he thinks, and who his mentors are?

He is just a guy. If you don't like him, don't tune in to hear what he has to say. He has no power over you.

Only the power you give him. Seems like you are worshiping at the wrong alter and bowing your knee to the wrong cat- buck.

Until you stand for something- you will fall for anything.

First, I don't worship any man. But, more than that, these Christian evangelicals are attempting to ensure US taxpayers continue to pay for the safety and assurance of Israel. In fact, more than ever, I am sure of it and I might add ANYONE associated with the TEA Party.

For years, I have seen through their make-believe world of a strong national defense while diminishing America's own internal capabilities. And look at us today: the TEA Party says little about US national involvement around the world as we peddle bullets and soldiers to anyone that needs US help.

Meanwhile, Beck is in Israel ensuring a "voice of reason" about the Christian principles to defend Jerusalem against enemies. He is begging for a war.

Palin is almost on the same page as Beck, BTW. And don't forget her religious groupies in the TEA Party.

Anyway, Glen Beck is a pretty handsome guy.

I think Beck is as ugly as HELL. Here are opinions from others about is loving excursion:

If this is the only kind of friend Israel's government can find around the world, that's a very poor sign," said Yariv Oppenheimer, secretary-general of Peace Now, the Israeli anti-settlement group. "It's a reflection on our current leadership that instead of having the world on our side, we can only get someone like Glenn Beck."

Arab Israeli lawmaker Ahmed Tibi warned that Beck's tour could provoke violence, calling him "a neo-fascist comedian who is motivated by a hatred of Islam."

Beck's visit reflects the partnership between conservative Israelis and some American Christian groups. So-called Christian Zionist groups and evangelical churches, such as Texas-based John Hagee Ministries, donate millions of dollars to help fund settlement construction in the West Bank and support Israel.
