The Texas governor is first out of the gate with a statement commenting on Muammar Qadhafi's imminent demise, but not taking a position on the overall wisdom in the mission in Libya (and using a spelling of Qadhafi that I have not seen before):

"The crumbling of Muammar Ghadafi’s reign, a violent, repressive dictatorship with a history of terrorism, is cause for cautious celebration.

"The lasting impact of events in Libya will depend on ensuring rebel factions form a unified, civil government that guarantees personal freedoms, and builds a new relationship with the West where we are allies instead of adversaries."

Meanwhile Michelle Bachmann accuses the Libyan rebels of being members of Hezbollah and Mitt Romney has called on the rebels to extradite the guy behind the Pan Am 103 bombing.

People commenting on this now are going to look as foolish as a sportscaster who would declare a football game won at halftime.

there's an awful lot of rueing the downfal of Gaddafi over on FR, mostly because they are afraid that Obama could get credit.

It really does seem that those folks would cheer another terrorist attack on the U.S. if it would hurt Obama politically.

You seem to think there's some doubt about that.

Maybe she was working on a secret deal with Qadhafi for Libyan oil for her $2 per gallon gas price promise.

The FR crowd was also ambivalent about Egypt.

So, its great when George Bush overthrows a tyrant but its horrible when a country's own people do so.

These neo-commies have it exactly backwards and they are the wrong side of history.

For the record, I couldn't care less about Gadaffi/Qadaffi/Khdaffi or however the hell you spell it. As it pertains to US national interests, I couldn't care less about Libya, either.

I've said about every "war" since Viet Nam. We need to MIND OUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS.

That said, you realize that the sentence you wrote:

there's an awful lot of rueing the downfal of Gaddafi over on FR, mostly because they are afraid that Obama could get credit.
could have been written slightly differently a few years ago and still been true:
there's an awful lot of rueing the downfal of Saddam Hussein over on The Daily Kos, mostly because they are afraid that Bush could get credit.
This once great country is going down the shitter - and all people can do cheer one political hack while booing another.

It's not that, it's that Obama is President so anything that happens on his watch must be bad.

If McCain were President they would be cheering the events in Egypt and Libya.

i'm of a bit different view toward Libya - Gaddafi is directly responsible for the deaths of American civilians over the skies of Lockerbie and U.S. service members in a disco in Berlin. I'm glad he's gone.

That being said, I didn't think intervening was a good idea because I didn't see an end-game and thought we would end up in a stalemate. I was wrong.

If that's true, it's great, but I don't think it's over yet. We can still barge in there with our contractors and mercenaries to "help".

No, McLame and lip-wristed Lindsy chastised Obama for not doing enough.

President McCain may have intervened more directly and it could have turned out very badly.

Here's the strange thing about the Obama administration - overseas he's tells people to take initiative. Domestically, he tells people who have laying in front if the TV growing their bellies - just continue to lay there and we'll give you more tax money.

Rick Perry and Islam

Reconqusta Rick Perry has joined Obama's democratic al queada, NATO muslim brotherhood.

He's running on the Green Party ticket with Cynthia McKinney, if he doesn't get the GOP nomination.
