I'll be charitable and say this officer is probably employed by a small town police dept, and does not know how to properly handle someone legally using a video camera. I live in a small town myself, and I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to see something like that happen here. These police forces typically do not pay well, and the better officers tend to go to the larger cities, leaving the "Barney Fifes" remaining. That said, I think some "sensitivity training" is in order - at the very least. Imagine if the kid had been a minority - oh the horrrors! the humanity! On a side note - did you notice the anti-Obama shirt the kid was wearing at the beginning of the video? I'm curious if the kid was wearing the same shirt when he was arrested? That might explain the officer's over-reaction. He could be an insane leftist (I know, I know. Using the terms "insane" and "leftist" in the same sentence is redundant.)
