Is Rep. Paul Ryan really looking to make a buck off his constituents? In yet another Republican stunt that proves the GOP only cares about people with money, Ryan is charging a fee akin to a poll tax for the right to speak with him.
It will cost $15 to ask Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) a question in person during the August congressional recess. The House Budget Committee chairman isnt holding any face-to-face open-to-the-public town hall meetings during the recess, but like several of his colleagues he will speak only for residents willing to open their wallets.
Why is Ryan, author of the Kill Medicare budget, running scared? Hes being met with the voice of Middle America, which is booing, protesting and even forming angry mobs. Watch video from Ryans last round of disastrous town halls:
And another one:
At yet another meeting, Ryan had to leave with a police escort after his car was surrounded. Ryan told WTMJ radio about that incident:
There were just definitely some loud hecklers who came that gave the police a little concern. I left in another car with the police. My car, some people did surround.
Ryan was also chased out of a speech in June by a bible-wielding protestor demanding to know why his politics ran against the Christian ideal of economic justice (TPM report).
The fury will only continue. The anti-middle class agenda of Congressional Republicans and their Tea Party captains are causing GOP disapproval numbers to soar. The populace is waking up to the harsh reality of enacting strict entitlement, social services, and environmental protection cuts in order to amass more wealth within the ranks of the top 1 percent.
