Title: Buffett higher tax call strikes a nerve

The 80-year-old "Oracle of Omaha," one of the world's three richest men, has taken to the pages of the New York Times to call for higher taxes -- yes, higher taxes -- for himself and his well-off peers.

"My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It's time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice," he said.

Buffett calling for a higher tax burden for the wealthy is nothing new; last November, in a lengthy sit-down interview with ABC News, he insisted that the wealthy "have it better than we've ever had it" and that they had an obligation to pay substantially more tax.

However, the timing of his latest appeal made people take notice. Washington lawmakers are fighting about how to reduce the nation's budget deficit and curb its massive debt burden, and the question of "added revenue" -- code for higher taxes -- looms larger than any other.

Republicans have fiercely resisted any attempts by President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress to make higher taxes for the wealthy part of any budget plan, insisting instead on all the deficit-curbing measures be made through spending cuts.

Taxation will be a major theme of the 2012 presidential election, and Buffett planted himself squarely in the middle of the debate.

"While the poor and middle class fight for us in Afghanistan, and while most Americans struggle to make ends meet, we mega-rich continue to get our extraordinary tax breaks," he wrote.

I can't believe this constant desire, this rabid greed, by many (yourself included), to take away from any man or woman, their incentive to work hard and earn more for their families and future, only to be double and triple taxed for their efforts in order to pamper to the likes of government tit-sucking parasite of no redeeming social nor economic value.

These fools in power have offered nothing to the American people but rhetoric and class warfare, rather than solutions and responsible leadership, they need to STOP with the cradle to grave entitlement handouts and give men and women a hand-up instead. jmho!

So why don't the rich "Volunteer" to pay in extra money to help reduce the deficit, the government will gladly take your money...... If it's such a big damn deal why not contribute...... I guess that's what Democrat shill bullshit rhetoric is all about, lie and get a favor....

Individuals are irrational and the actions of the rich, in trying to earn more money collapsed the American and world's economy.

The philosophy that letting the rich be richer would trickle down and benefit all of the 99% of the rest of society turned out to be false - a failed economic ideology.

With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction.

Limited Hangout.

Buffett can give his billions away now.

Nothing stopping him.

Quoted by Janet C. Lowe, in Warren Buffett Speaks: Wit and Wisdom from the world's .... Both my children and I won what I call the ovarian lottery. .... all right, but it's my class, the rich class, that's making war, and we're winning.

We, the West, are on the Road.

There will be blood...

"In their pursuit of power, wealth and dominion, the ruling class systematically brutalized, tortured, "relocated" and murdered those foreign peoples in vast numbers. (All this continues today, of course; see Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, et al.) This is the program that the governments of the United States, England and other countries now bring home."

At this particular moment in time, reducing the deficit won't get people jobs.

If you want the economy to turn around then people need jobs NOW! Not handouts, Murron and CZ82, jobs that pay decent wages.

If the private sector can't do it, then the government must do it simply because it must be done.

The certainty that business craves is customers, and customers are created when people have jobs with a reasonable degree of certainty that they will be employed long enough to be comfortable spending money.

The private sector could if the government would get the hell out of the way.....

How much money has the Government spent on B.S. stimulus projects and it has not done a damn thing to stimulate the economy or lower unemployment????? The government has "LIMITED" resources with which to stimulate the economy, (unless it conviscates everything everybody has)...... the private sector has "5-6 TIMES" that amount...... why not utilize that instead of trying to wring blood out of a turnip??????

Between this country and overseas there is about 6 "TRILLION" (or more) stashed away that the businesses are just sitting on because of the Democrats stupid regulations and desire to tax everybody to death.... Do you really think those business people are stupid enough to start investing that money, when they are convinced that if they do they will lose it????? (just because some blowhard Democrat politician wishes them to do so)..... Hell no...... (You don't become wealthy by being a dumbass, but you can become a politician)!!!!!

Some of them may have been born recently, but it sure as hell wasn't last night.......

It's that burning emotion called "envy." Which I believe is one of the seven deadly sins, yes???

There's a line from the movie "Underworld," where Viktor says, "It is the oldest story in the book. He desires the one thing he cannot have..."

It's not just that gobsheit and loonymom are envious of the wealthy... they're envious of anyone who is more successful than they are. It really isn't about money, it's about their perceptions- "why should they have money and I have to eat cat-food?"

They'll never consider that someone could have worked longer and harder, become better educated, or been more skilled at something which pays well, than they are.

Perhaps loonymom worked as a waitress for years- but even being the best damned waitress you ever saw, still results in $25-30K, tops... Whereas if she'd become an interior designer, and been the best at that, she'd have a couple of extra zeroes on the end of her annual income, easily...

Leftists refuse to face the consequences for the choices they make. It's never due to their actions, incompetence, whatever. They'll blame anyone and everyone else, because to actually take responsibility for their own failings, would naturally indicate that there is something wrong with THEM, and the responsibility to implement a workable solution also lies with them.

Just look at oBOMBa... he blames his policy failures on the Japanese earthquake, Bush, the Tea Party, even "a run of bad luck..." He's the POSTER- CHILD for irresponsibility.

No WONDER they love him so much....

The two sides in America are people who work for a living versus people who vote for their living.
