Then why did they need a vote to raise the debt ceiling if the Fed can print money without permission? What has happened is that the federal banking system is provided autonomous reporting duties by Congress with a PRESIDENT that recommends the head of the federal banking system for Congressional approval. The federal banking system operates under Congressional auspices. Republicans and any congressperson who signed on to pledges that said they would not raise taxes under any circumstances violated their oaths since raising taxes is within their constitutional duties. Additionally, threatening to default on debt of the USA is a violation of the 14th amendment.
