Poll: Voters Still Believe Tea Party Understands Nation’s Problems Better Than Congress

August 15, 2011 by Marcy Bonebright

A protester hoists a sign at a Tea Party rally outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington on April 6. A recent poll found that voters still have more confidence in the Tea Party than members of Congress.

The mainstream media and liberal pundits may love to hate the Tea Party, but a recent poll reveals that many voters still believe the grassroots political movement understands the Nation’s problems better than members of the United States Congress.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 42 percent of all likely U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party has a better understanding of the difficulties facing America today, with only 34 percent of respondents believing the same of the average Congressional member.

According to a press release from the polling company, the results are more divided when looked at along party lines: “Sixty percent (60%) of Democrats, however, have more confidence in the average member of Congress. But 68% of Republicans — and a plurality (46%) of voters not affiliated with either major party — think the average Tea Party member has a better understanding of today’s problems.”

However, the poll also revealed that only 36 percent of all voters have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party, with 44 percent viewing the group unfavorably and 20 percent responding that they were unsure. This survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted on Aug. 5 and 6, with a +/- 3 margin of sampling error.

The mainstream media and liberal pundits

Same old kook talking points the right wing has been recycling since the late 60s.

With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction.

The best thing for Obama is if the GOP nominates a staunch tea partier to run against him.

When asked by a Liberal what I bought my Granddaughter for her 1st birthday I replied, "MORE AMMUNITION"!!!! -----------------------------"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
