Title: Tea Party Terrorists? No -- Worse

I have to agree with the tea party advocate who wrote complaining that his movement, and sometimes the Republicans in general, have been recently linked to the word "terrorist" ("Why the name calling?" Aug. 10). I know from personal experience this is wildly inaccurate. As a resident of New York City on 9/11, I watched in horror as real terrorists attacked my own city and killed nearly 3,000 of my neighbors, including the father of one of my youngest daughter's 10th grade classmates. Despite that horror, as a city, we picked ourselves up and stood up unbeaten and unbowed by the worst terrorists can do. Because the truth is simple terrorists will never stop America. That's why the tea party, and the Republican Party, don't deserve to be linked with that awful "terrorist" label. Because somehow, they have brought this country to its knees in ways no mere terrorists could — starting with eight years of a bumbling president who lied us into a financially ruinous and unnecessary war, and then mutely watched the country tip into financial ruin. And then continuing through the tea party's selfish intransigence that helped set the markets into their current freefall. These people have damaged this country in ways all the terrorists in the world could not dream of. The markets are imploding, millions are out of work with no hope, our economy is gravely wounded, retirees like me are watching their savings evaporate. And those actually responsible are trying to point their dirty fingers at the president to try and blame him. Shame. I can't even think of any word in the English language that could adequately describe the horror these people represent. But let's just agree "terrorist" is way, way too mild. BTW,Communism/Socialism is responsible for the murder of at least 100 million people. Somebody should ask David Johnson,the guy whose daughter knows the daughter of ONE man that was murdered,and whose death this lunatic blames on a political movement that didn't even exist when the ONE murder took place how that one murder compares to the record of the political system HE supports.

given the economic damage they caused in the last few weeks, the tea party sure does deserve the "terrorist" label.

The Left seems to be getting their proverbial "ducks in a row" - the boogey-men and women du jour seem to be the tea party. They will make perfect foils for demonization once the SHTF. The truth is, there are many villains who have contributed to the upcoming economic collapse. But anything beyond grade school mathematics is too difficult to grasp for most gov't school graduates. It's much easier to throw bricks and rocks at posters of Palin and Bachmann than to admit Obama and his merry band of Socialists had ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING. And oh, how coveniently we have forgotten it wasn't so long ago when Stretch Pelosi was running the House, and there WAS NO "Tea Party".
Did the people actually own the means of production in those countries or were the PTB actually just plain old dictators getting rid of the opposition?
After their antics in last two weeks they deserve every derisive term that can be heaped on them.

I'm entitled to not like their candidates' (you know...the one's who say they represent the TEA PARTY) stances on certain issues or is that now illegal here too?
There are many on this board who seem to have a real fear or hatred of the "tea- party," and I'm trying to educate myself as to why. You seem to have other issues, however. Perhaps Dr. Laura would help . . .

No one is fooled by the Tea Party being anything other than the same people that supported Bush/GOP for 8 years. If they were anti-George Bush then for 8 years they did nothing and that also makes them culpable for the damage that man and his party did.
With the economy still in the dumper -- maybe permanently? -- and full-time jobs becoming as scarce as rain during a drought, huge percentages of Americans have had their (misplaced) faith in the American dream shaken, the upper-middle-class consumerist lifestyle is exposed as a mirage for anybody who plays by the rules. Capitalism and the America that embraced it as a way of life is now and forever more a failure. It does me good to know that the generation that voted in Reagan and his ideology will see their America die from that ideology before their very own eyes and knowing they had a hand in its destruction.
