Amid a speech on Washington’s self-inflicted debt crisis, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said Wednesday that the tea party’s political strategy is essentially bogus and plays into Democrats’ hands, and urged tea party Republicans to support House Speaker John Boehner’s plan to extend the debt limit for another nine months. Describing the tea party’s strategy to force a rewrite of the Constitution by triggering a default, he concluded that their thinking was along the lines of something from “Lord of the Rings.” “And the tea party hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor,” he said. “This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharon Angle and Christine O’Donnell into GOP Senate nominees. Platitudes are all you have. You certainly don't have anything approaching an intellect. Do you pay your bills or are you a deadbeat? My guess is that you're on some sort of fixed income because of you own sense of entitlement but don't want anyone else to "get" there's as you do yours...
