Though members emerged from a closed-door meeting saying they believe the Speaker will secure the 217 he needs by Thursday evening, when the House is set to vote, Boehner will still need to convince dozens of undecided members to back his measure. “We don’t have the votes, but we’re getting there,” Boehner said in the meeting, according to Rep. At this point there aren't a huge amount of differences between the Reid plan the Boehner plan so there's a decent chance of some sort of compromise being worked out over the weekend. To: go65 (#1) I wonder how this will make the GOP look to the Wall Street crowd? I know they were flirting with the GOP after Obama verbally chastised them a few months a go (but not much else beyond weak oversight legislations). But now I am guessing they are starting to see the GOP as a party of pitchfork and torch wielding crazies who are bad for stability and business. The Wall Street Journal calling the Tea Party 'crazy, liars, hobbits" is one clue towards the Wall Street attitude towards the GOP. To: Godwinson (#2) the hill reporting that it will be very close, somewhere around 60 Republicans are expected to vote no.
