The House already passed a bi-partisan bill to raise the debt ceiling and cut spending.

On another thread you've argued that the default won't be a big deal and you didn't even notice the last time the government shut down - so what exactly is the fault of Reid and the Democrats? You are going to "blame" them if the government can't spend more than it takes in? Seriously? You seem to have stopped thinking through any of your arguments as of late.

BTW, Cut, cap and trade raises the debt ceiling by trillions of dollars. Maybe you missed that?

Even most tea partiers would rather raise taxes on the top bracket then balance the budget by cutting services to the poor, retired, infirmed, and military vets.
Or if Republicans didn't insist on balancing a budget on the backs of the poor/retired/disabled.
What a bunch of BS. The rich already pay the most. The bottom 50 percent don't pay any taxes. And not only that they get welfare, food stamps, health care etc. And now apparently 180,000 dollar homes. Enough is enough. Help the truly needy but not the dead beats anymore. The deadbeats are about 95 percent of the people who get government handouts.
Kick wealthy people off of Social Security and Medicare. Turn Medicaid over to the states. Close the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, and Labor. Combine the 30 welfare programs into one program. Stop funding PBS and the National Endowment for the Arts. Sell the Post Office, Amtrak and anything else that can be provided by the market. Stop wasteful "research" like the ones I mentioned early.
There will be plenty of money left to run the rest of the government. It's just that simple.
