These numbers, from Quinnipiac University, are the kind you want to see if you're going to run a campaign asking voters to stay the course in difficult times: American voters disapprove 56 – 38 percent of the way President Barack Obama is handling the economy, but by 45 – 38 percent they trust the president more than congressional Republicans to handle the economy, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. The country is in a recession, 71 percent of American voters say, but by 54 – 27 percent they blame former President George W. Bush more than President Obama.

Only 22 percent of Americans, according to Gallup, say they want their member of Congress to vote to raise the debt ceiling. Between July 7-10, Gallup interviewed 1,016 adults for the poll.

I have had polling companies call my land line three times in the last year, yet not one call on my cell phone for the five years that I've had it.
About half of the respondents also claimed to be uninformed on the issue.
