These numbers, from Quinnipiac University, are the kind you want to see if you're going to run a campaign asking voters to stay the course in difficult times:

American voters disapprove 56 – 38 percent of the way President Barack Obama is handling the economy, but by 45 – 38 percent they trust the president more than congressional Republicans to handle the economy, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

The country is in a recession, 71 percent of American voters say, but by 54 – 27 percent they blame former President George W. Bush more than President Obama.

Voters say 67 – 25 percent that an agreement to raise the debt ceiling should include tax hikes for the wealthy and corporations, not just spending cuts...

Republicans seem to be on the wrong side of the economic debate.

Von Mises associates any Government involvement in markets as "Socialism" , to mislead people into thinking Government is the enemy , when infact empire is the enemy and empire is Privatized.

GOP Plan A:

Give everything to the Top 50 000 that they want.

Pander to the mouth breathers...

There is no Plan B...8D

The top 50,000 would do well to study the French Revolution.

They have.

They think they have the solution. ;}

This time will be different. They always think that.

When they tell you it's time for war, don't go.

Thank God we don't live in a democracy. The framers of the Constitution were very wise to give us a republic, if we can keep it.

We shouldn't raise the debt ceiling, or taxes. Chop, chop, chop... reduce the size of the parasitic government bureaucracy.

The above proves the founders were wise in creating a Republic.

No, they understand at Owe-bama's spending rate the nation is doomed.

EXACTLY.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
-- Joseph Goebbels --

The State can no longer hide the consequences of their 100-year lie. VERY interesting times are ahead.

The Pubbies and their corp cronies need to keep some of the bureaucrats and heads of the most powerful departments on their side in case they decide they will have to go the coup route.

A majority of Americans are also more concerned that the government will raise the debt ceiling without plans for major spending cuts than they are that the government will precipitate a major economic crisis if it does not raise the debt limit.

Only 22 percent of Americans, according to Gallup, say they want their member of Congress to vote to raise the debt ceiling.

Between July 7-10, Gallup interviewed 1,016 adults for the poll.

Now, I know I’m not going to change the minds of any of the True Believers…those who read all of Reverend Al’s sermons, and say things like, “You know, global warming can mean warmer OR colder, wetter OR drier, cloudier OR sunnier, windier OR calmer, …”. Can I get an ‘amen’??

Yes we should bring all the troops home and win the war with Mexico.

I'm but a lowly RINO, and only that so I can vote against the worst of the libtards in the primaries.

I have had polling companies call my land line three times in the last year, yet not one call on my cell phone for the five years that I've had it.

About half of the respondents also claimed to be uninformed on the issue.
