He was referring to the uniquely American habit of reducing distinct, if not conflicting parties—in this case the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China—into a seamless confederation hostile to U.S. interests. snip till, Washington blunders on. For the last decade, the White House in general and Congress in particular have insisted on treating the Muslim Brotherhood, the global Islamist movement based in Cairo, as both insoluble and adversarial. (Though it is not on the State Department’s list of terrorists organizations, U.S. officials are discouraged, if not banned outright, from meeting with its members.) It has been characterized as al Qaeda’s intellectual fountainhead, having counted as members Ayman Al-Zawahiri, successor to the recently deleted bin Laden, and Sayyid Qutb, a radical author and theorist whose attacks on secularism inspired both men. Widely overlooked, however, is that Al-Zawahiri and Qutb ultimately rebuked the Muslim Brotherhood as a lapdog to secular despots.

You're right. It's not. The Egypt/Israel Pipeline got bombed Wed for the third time. The bedouins are intent on keeping it closed. And the MB had to be dragged, kicking and screaming into the Arab Spring. MOSSAD/AlCiada had to kill off OBL because he was such a Non Starter ANYWHERE in in the Arab Spring. Not a word. Not a Poster. 8D Israel is hated around the World.
The US alliance with Pakistan is now in full collapse as I predicted when the US illegally assassinated bin Laden. The brief celebrations over that dubious death have now died down and no questions are being answered, either. A sullen silence has now fallen over the whole business as the diplomatic and military downside rises higher and higher into prominence. The US now has to ship EVERYTHING over torturous routes to reach Afghanistan and much of this has to pass through Turkey and amazingly and funny as hell, Russia.

Didn't you wonder when the CNBS talking heads bragged in the boom boom years about how the weighting of the financials in the SnP was over 40% that something was desperately wrong with our country? Seriously?? 40% of the SnP was FINANCIALS! That had to send alarm bells off that we were dying as a country.....but it didn't. No one even blinked. Its going to take a much longer time with a true cleaning and reset of government policy and a restoration of CONFIDENCE. REAL CONFIDENCE. That is only brought about by a country that is governed by its people. Not a facade of corporatocracy/fascism.

Even Mohammed Farahat, a Salafi sheik with a considerable Internet following, said he would honor Cairo’s peace treaty with the Jewish state in the event of a two-state solution to the dispute over Palestine.
