The pro-labor coalition We Are Ohio delivered nearly 1.3 million signatures Wednesday to repeal SB 5, a new law restricting the collective-bargaining rights of public employees, placing it on the November 8 ballot.

People's World reported that the 1,298,301 signatures were delivered to the Secretary of State's office by a semi-truck packed with 1502 boxes of petitions and accompanied by a large "People's Parade."

We Are Ohio collected more signatures than any other petition drive in Ohio history thanks to the work of more than 10,000 volunteers.

The signatures must now be validated by each county board of elections office.

“Today we celebrate the unprecedented achievement of the more than one million Ohioans who want to repeal SB 5,” Melissa Fazekas, spokeswoman for We Are Ohio, said in a statement. “This historic number of signatures sends a strong, clear message to the extreme politicians who played political tricks to pass SB 5 and to the rest of the country."

"More than 1 million voices from all 88 counties can’t be wrong," she continued. "The more than 6200 people who marched today and the more than one million who support the citizen’s veto, are proof that while our campaign may be out spent, we will never be out worked, or out volunteered or out supported by hard working Ohioans.”

The filing of the petitions will keep SB 5 from taking effect until the results of the election are known in November.

Yep, and boy are the leftwingers and union thugs going to be surprised at the result.

SB5 will be reaffirmed by a wide margin. Bookmark it, Brian.

Interesting.....

What makes you so sure?

The huge number of unemployed private sector types, and the very small percentage of employed voters in comparision here.

Union membership in the private sector here has imploded over the past couple of decades.

Duh...union membership everywhere has "imploded", Boofer.

Total membership maybe, actually working not near that amount..... Ohio has lost over 500,000 jobs in the last 10 years and quite a few of them were union jobs.... Most vehicle manufacturing union menbers around here are sitting at home because the plants are closed.... Most of the buildings have been demolished and the rest are in the process of being sold right now.... The rumour is the 1 GM plant left intact is being sold to a new investment company and they say the new owners will hire over 2,000 people... I just don't remember what they are going to offer/produce....

FYI, Stone has banned war

That doesn't surprise me, and I'll bet a few others got it too......

There sure has been a lot of whining going on lately about the way he runs his website, and he finally got tired of it..... How he runs his website is his business, if people don't like it then they can just go someplace else.... If they have a beef with him then they need to be "ADULTS" about it and approach him thru a "NICELY" worded PM instead of calling him out on a thread made to piss him off....... that was dumb and got the expected response....

As I see it they got pissed off because he has a different viewpoint about some of the threads/post they made.... As I understand it there are some rules Stone should/has to follow as the owner of the site.... (whether he chooses to do so or not is his business).... And those rules should be posted clearly so everybody knows what can/can't be tolerated..... calling people names is a no no and probably one of the major reasons why all of this happened, along with re-wording of some threads titles......

Another thing I see is Stone has a busy personal life and doesn't have the time to police the site on a regular basis. And when he makes some edits/changes to their posts they come up with this shit of "You never said anything before about that" or "So and so said that in another thread" and just get plain obnoxious about it..... calm down children!!!!

He's changed the titles to 1-2 of my threads, and edited some of the words I posted...... I don't have a problem with that, it happens.... sometimes the wrong words just come out of your keyboard!!!!!

Then let the words posted by the person who's name it bears stand unless the poster asks his words be edited (that is holding the individual responsible). If the post exceeds the low standards of decency here, then delete it, and apply the same rules to all posts.

Of course the site belongs to A K A Stone and he can run it as he sees fit, however how he runs it determines whether or not it is a place of debate or a pot where a limited group can comfortably stew in their own juice.

So has anybody ever asked Stone if he could be held responsible for the content of his website????

Supposedly if the editing of titles and content occurs it doesn't matter what Stone thinks, the answer is yes (if anyone wants to pursue it). Which is probably why Stone does his best to keep traffic down on this site.
