VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict is sorry Muslims were offended by a speech that provoked fury in the Islamic world and led to calls for the leader of the Catholic church to apologize personally, the Vatican said on Saturday. "The Holy Father is very sorry that some passages of his speech may have sounded offensive to the sensibilities of Muslim believers," Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said in a statement.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said a Vatican statement on Saturday saying Pope Benedict was sorry for upsetting Muslims with his comments on Islam did not go far enough. "We want a personal apology (from the Pope). We feel that he has committed a grave error against us and that this mistake will only be removed through a personal apology," Muslim Brotherhood Deputy Leader Mohammed Habib told Reuters. The Pope recalled that the emperor had told his adversary: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." Benedict acknowledged the "startling brusqueness" of the remark, but went on to endorse fully the view that "spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable".

Actually you shouldn't be surprised about this Todd. THE PAPACY CREATED ISLAM in order to control the Arabs who wouldn't convert to Romanism and to capture Jerusalem for the Papacy. THe Koran was actually created through a wife of Mohammed and her male cousin WHO WERE PAPAL ROMANISTS.
The papacy has made colossal fools of untold millions of people down through history, and it is still doing so today.
Not a fair assessment of what the Pope said. He said he was sorry some Muslims were offended. He did not say he was sorry he said it.

Ok. We lose this "war". What do we lose?
Parents were RC and Jewish. We were raised as both. Some of us became RC and some Jewish. Oddly enough the one (moi) that chose Judaism married a Catholic and the ones that became RC, married Episcopal, Unitarian, Methodist, Catholic, Jewish and n.e.c. Our children are also multi-denominational and probably less secular than I am.
