Just like then, people made poor by Republican policies saved by a Democrat president.
Hoover had the SAME policies as that idiot Roosevelt. Roosevelt just continued the suffering for another decade.
Actually we had a stable depression and panic free economy for almost fifty years, the longest period in US history, after Roosevelt.
I always thought that the 50s and then the 60s - until Viet Nam - were the most prosperous period in America in the 20th century.
Gnu says 'no', that we had depressions almost every year during that period and usually under a Pubby president too.

The 50s were praised more for their cultural values rather than economic prosperity (although the economy wasn't bad). We've had an umber of recessions since Roosevelt, and a number of other problems like rampant inflation in the 70s.
