You know the script; treatment, penance, healing, and the move for a comeback because Americans like underdogs and comebacks. If he handles this right he could still have a political future. And I bet it happens. Sure as there was a new Nixon after the debacle of the "you won't have Nixon to kick around anymore" speech he can rise again. But in order to do this, he's going to have to keep the knowledge of how turgid his little head is more confidential then he has lately.

They do seem to be more forgiving, of their own that is.
