While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti- science wing of the Republican Party:

“It seemed like a straightforward question on a second-tier issue: Would Mitt Romney disavow the science behind global warming?”

“The putative Republican presidential front-runner, eager to prove his conservative bona fides, could easily have said what he knew many in his party's base wanted to hear.”

“Instead, the former Massachusetts governor stuck to the position he has held for many years -- that he believes the world is getting warmer and that humans are contributing to it.”

The election will be won or lost on the economy.

The economy stinks.

Obama was elected with 53% of the vote in a "historic" election.

Will Obama get 53% again? No way.

As long as his opponent is a conservative Obama will lose and lose big. Nominate a freak like say Giuliani and Obama is a shoe in.

Conservatives haven't shown an ability to win among "Republicans", and Conservatives like O'Donnell, Angle, etc. showed they can't win a general election.

Cling to your hope though.

that depends on his opponent.

No, it will entirely depend on the economy.

In 2008 a lot of independents shut their eyes to Obama's lack of leadership experience and voted for him because they wanted to be part of the historic moment of electing America's first black president.

They aren't going to do that this time.

If the GOP nominated a complete klutz, the election will be very tight -- maybe within a point. If the GOP nominates someone really credible, it could be a 1984 style blow out. If the GOP nominates a RINO and a credible independent candidate emerges, no one will get anywhere near 50% of the vote, just like 1992.

In every case, Obama won't come close to 53%.
