Landmark Hitler letter on Jews unveiled in New York

The letter is hand-typed and signed by Hitler. A letter by Adolf Hitler - said to be the earliest expression of his ideas on anti-Semitism - has been shown publicly for the first time in New York.

The four-page typed letter, written in 1919, calls for the "uncompromising removal" of Jews from society.

It was acquired by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre in Los Angeles, where it is due to go on display.

The statement by the then 30-year-old soldier is regarded as a key historical document from the period.

Correspondents say it is seen as significant because it demonstrates how early the future Nazi leader was forming his views.

'Legislation'

The document suggests that Hitler already believed, more than two decades before the Holocaust, that Jews should be removed from society.

"To begin with, Judaism is definitely a racial and not a religious group," Hitler wrote in the statement, known as the Gemlich letter.

The letter marks Judaism as "a racial and not a religious group" "The result of which is that a non-German race lives among us with its own feelings, thoughts and aspirations, while having all the same rights as we do."

In one section of the letter, Hitler writes that a government could tackle the so-called "Jewish question" by denying their rights, but said the "final aim, however, must be the uncompromising removal of the Jews altogether".

Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center said that the organisation bought the letter for $150,000 (£90,000) from a private dealer last month.

He said the letter - the existence of which has long been known to scholars - was a critical document from World War II because it "ties Hitler directly to the destruction of the Jews".

"In 1919, when he was a nobody he writes a letter... we need not emotional pogroms, we need legislation, we need a national government that would be ruthless enough, to do what? Total removal of the Jews from society," he told the BBC.

When it was written, Hitler was serving in the German army, and had had a tendency to stir up troops with his anti-Semitic rhetoric.

A superior officer asked him to put his ideas on paper, according to AP news agency.

The document was displayed at New York's Museum of Tolerance, but it will go on permanent show in Los Angeles from July.

It's a legitimate question with his stance on Israel.... (must be too legitimate for you).....

At least I have an excuse, I was born that way..... instead of being a self made douche like you.......

I guess you don't like a little controversy, especially when you didn't start it.....

Hitler supported the creation of a Jewish state.....

Why should the USA care for this Israel any more or less than any other nation?

I don't think the Jews deserve a "Higher status" in the world than anybody else.... But, you don't throw you friends under the bus, unless they have proven they aren't your friends anymore.... and that isn't the case.....

She is surrounded by enemies that would just as soon see all of the Jews dead (like Hitler), why take a stance that would enable them to do just exactly that... eliminate them..... The Jewish people have suffered enough at the hands of others, why help her enemies...... (just like the Iraqis suffered under Saddam)....

The Jews have a right to exist just like all of the other people in the world, even though some of the others prove otherwise on a daily basis......

The Head of State of the UN formed State of Israel coming to this nation and bashing the POTUS in the press is not the act of a "friend". There but for the grace of the US goes Israel. They should be eternally grateful for what they get from us and not be demanding more.

The US telling the UN formed State of Israel to get along with its neighbors is hardly calling for its destruction.

Netty said what needed to be said, that Israel has a right to exist and the same thing I said, you don't throw your friends/allies under the bus without reason.... and politics isn't a good reason....(of course that doesn't stop the Libtards)... The reception he got in Congress shows what a leader he is and what Obozo isn't.....

If the Liberals in this country want peace over in that area then they need to lean on the Arabs and Palestinians.... they are the ones who "DON'T" want peace.... The Jews are warriors only because they have to be, they would rather live in peace than live in the current situation... which is out of their control.....

If you want a nuclear disaster in the Middle East just keep on demanding the Israelis go back to their 1967 borders, they will defend their right to exist and they will use nukes if necessary.....

We base our approach squarely on the principle that the Arab-Israeli conflict should be resolved through the negotiations involving an exchange of territory for peace. This exchange is enshrined in United Nations Security Council Resolution 242*, which is, in turn, incorporated in all its parts in the Camp David agreements. U.N. Resolution 242 remains wholly valid as the foundation-stone of America's Middle East peace effort.

-Ronald Wilson Reagan POTUS

*242 passed the UNSC in November of 1967 and called for Israel to pull back to its UN formed borders.

*242 passed the UNSC in November of 1967 and called for Israel to pull back to its UN formed borders.

The cornerstone of all postwar diplomacy was U.N. Security Council Resolution 242, passed in November 1967. It did not demand that Israel pull back completely to the pre-1967 lines. Its withdrawal clause only called on Israel to withdraw "from territories," not from all territories. Britain's foreign secretary at the time, George Brown, later underlined the distinction: "The proposal said 'Israel will withdraw from territories that were occupied,' and not from 'the' territories, which means that Israel will not withdraw from all the territories."

With all due respect to Brown, the UN formed State of Israel itself believes that 242 requires it to pull back to the borders of 4 June 1967.

With all due respect to Brown, the UN formed State of Israel itself believes that 242 requires it to pull back to the borders of 4 June 1967

How were Israel's legal rights to new boundaries justified? A good explanation came from Judge Stephen Schwebel, who would later be an adviser to the State Department and then president of the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Writing in the American Journal of International Law in 1970, he noted that Israel's title to West Bank territory—in the event that it sought alterations in the pre-Six Day War lines—emanated from the fact that it had acted in lawful exercise of its right to self-defense. It was not the aggressor.

The flexibility for creating new borders was preserved for decades. Indeed, the 1993 Oslo Agreements, signed by Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat on the White House lawn, did not stipulate that the final borders between Israel and the Palestinians would be the 1967 lines. Borders were to be a subject for future negotiations. An April 2004 U.S. letter to Israel, backed by a bipartisan consensus in both houses of Congress, stipulated that Israel was not expected to fully withdraw, but rather was entitled to "defensible borders." U.S. secretaries of state from Henry Kissinger to Warren Christopher reiterated the same point in past letters of assurance.

AIM OF THE NEGOTIATIONS

The aim of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations within the current Middle East peace process is, among other things, to establish a Palestinian Interim Self-Government Authority, the elected Council (the "Council"), for the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, for a transitional period not exceeding five years, leading to a permanent settlement based on Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338.

Maybe they should have told the Palestinians that, they don't seem to know....

Then again if they quit firing rockets into Israel and executing innocent people, maybe somebody would listen to their demands for peace.... But I don't think that's going to happen..... So it looks like the Palestinians can just go piss up a rope.....

Well, count me as one of them. Here is why: if it wasn't for Churchill, Hitler would have relocated ALL the Jews to Madagascar as opposed to any Holocaust.

You're not a propagandist, that concept is actual history.... Even though Hitler was not the originator of the idea, somebody else was about 50-60 years before....

SO you're saying that because they didn't defeat England (and her Navy) that's why they didn't move the Jews there... Even though at the same time they were building the Warsaw Ghetto....

Even if they had moved the Jews there do you think they would have let them live??? I think it would have just been the Madagascar Ghetto... Outta sight, outta mind...... nobody is keeping tabs on them cause they're too busy fighting a war to notice or care.....

Not true at all. Hitler was in a down-swing about the Third Reich in 1941. It wasn't an upswing after that time. Hitler lacked the resources for the migration attempt.

Have you eve followed "the Skunk?" He was a prolific poster during the life-span of LF (Liberty Forum) when John Deere was still alive; it was probably the biggest world-wide chit-chat channel in the world. I think it was turned "dark" in 2008. Still, Skunk created more original posts about this matter than any web-site in the world. He did a good job attempting to deny the holocaust as a rumour, which I think is ludicrous still, he combined some serious fact about the salient details of the holocaust that anyone could not argue as his details were backed by detailed research and links.

It was Churchill that prevented Hitler from establishing the Jews on Madagascar. It actually lead to the continuous barrage of assault on GB by Hitler; ultimately, it all lead to the defensive position of Hitler and the later prison camps.

Even if they had moved the Jews there do you think they would have let them live???

Sure. There was a concept espoused by many 19th century philosophers concerning the faire skinned, blond, blue eyed superior race: the Nordic Aryans. Jews were considered as "DOGS" or mongrels at the time, somewhat similar to how Zionists regard Palestinians today. Hitler wanted to remove their influence from Germany.

I think it would have just been the Madagascar Ghetto... Outta sight, outta mind...... nobody is keeping tabs on them cause they're too busy fighting a war to notice or care.....

At the time, that is what happened. The collapse of the Third Reich. All good news, by the way.

So did America learn any lessons? Nope.

I want to answer your question with a riddle. This won't take long, either.

America was the greatest nation this planet has ever seen. Today, we see America in serious decline with no apparent hope of redirection on the horizon. So the question is, "how did we get here?" What are the dynamics that manifested our own downfall as it wasn't some direct military foreign invasion. America's broadest range of world-wide influence throughout it's 235 history was the immediate aftermath of WW2. So, in 60 years we have seen a tremendous change; the changes were allowed because of the ignorant American people living off their HEYDAY following WW2.

With the above backdrop in mind, have you read or seen "The Time Machine" by H.G Wells?

Briefly, the story was about a nineteenth century time traveler that went to the remote future and wound up with two isolated clans, the Morlocks and the Eloi. The time traveler effectively destroys the Morlocks and returns to the nineteenth century to pick up some books and return to rebuild the Eloi.

Of course there are other important details I have intentionally omitted but with both of the above in mind, it is time for the long awaited riddle: What limited set of books would YOU take?

Yes sir. You understand the issues on a deep level well. And it isn't about some tug-'o-war concerning politics.

And that is why I study history. I may not be able to handle the world at large but I may be able to handle my own understanding and impart a few fragments of and about some details to family friends and business. I may not know much but as a student I am willing to learn.

Best regards!

You have a way with words. Use Ben Bernanke as an example. He controls the US economy from the position of throttling liquidity; he answers to Congress periodically and lies each and every time. Everyone closes their Congressional hearings with the idea that Ben Bernanke is a "smart" man and the economy continues to sink.

Bernanke was GWBush's appointee in 2006 as the Chairman of the FED. That was five years ago. And, each and every year since then has there been any improvement about America's economics?

Have you ever considered Michael Brown? Brown was appointed as the head of FEMA by GWBush in 2003; normally a benign position for bureaucrats. It was one of those (wink, wink) jobs.

Brown resigned under NATIONAL disgrace for his absolute INEPT handling of the Katrina disaster in 2005.

And with Democrats, irrespective of Presidential appointment I can continue FOREVER about any historical glimpse of BIG credentials while operating as a lamer, too.

The truth is: as a People, America shouldn't hire these EXPERTS. None of them make sense; all of them condone the downward fall of America in the name they are following "process&procedure."

You see, America has grown limp. We no longer have fighters in government that defend the American People or even the rights, liberties and freedoms we are naturally endowed with; ALL government workers [whether high or low in position] are too busy creating their next year's department budget for submission to Congress, which shall invariably "rubber stamp" the same.

So how do we remove fascism from America?

It used to be back in the day you paid your dues as you moved up the ladder to leadership, I.E. you knew what you were doing if you had that job.....

I noticed when I first went into the Military in the late 70s that the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers E8s and E9s (SNCOs) knew their shit, and the young airmen could learn a lot from them...... After a few years as the older SNCOs retired, other were promoted to take their place. But the replacements didn't seem to know as much as the older ones... When it was my turn to try to get promoted into one of those slots I found out why that had happened..... They had changed the criteria for promotion from "What you knew" to "Who you knew/blew"..... In essence politicised the promotion process to get people with "Political Correctness" into those jobs instead of people who "ACTUALLY KNEW HOW TO DO THE JOB".... (Sound staggeringly familiar)??????

Well needless to say I wasn't a "politically correct NCO", and so stayed as an E7 my last 12 years before I retired at 20 years.... In fact I had an E8 as a boss who tried to ruin my career because I wasn't political enough for him (he was down on his knees trying for E9).... (sound familiar again)!!!! Needless to say my Major had to step in to fix the problem.... told the E8 that if he wrote that bad performance report for me that the Major would write one for him too..... Citing lack of good judgement and lack of leadership ability, which would have ruined his career too...... And about 2 months later the E8 got a short notice remote assignment to Korea..... LOL.....
