A.B. Culvahouse is not a gadfly for The Tea Party. Indeed, his gravitas far exceeds George Will’s weekly fifteen minutes of tangled logic. Shall we stick with the facts? Culvahouse chairs O’Melveny and Myers, an international law firm consisting of over 1,000 lawyers. (Talk about community organizing!)
From ’73 to ’76 he was Chief Legislative Assistant/Counsel to Howard Baker Jr. In ’89 Reagan awarded Culvahouse the Presidential Citizens’ Medal. And most importantly for this discussion, Culvahouse served on the Federal Advisory Committee on Nuclear Failsafe and Risk Reduction.
Are you following this George? Culvahouse unquestionably knows more about the command and control of America’s nuclear arsenal than you. He trumps everything you ever heard from Colbert, Leno, Letterman, and all the rest, by a factor of ten.
That brings us directly to the instant question Mr. Will. Culvahouse was handpicked by Sen. John McCain to vet 26 prospective Vice Presidential candidates for him in 2008. Among those 26 was a very popular Alaskan Governor by name of Sarah Palin.
She didn’t beat out 5, or 10, or even 20 others… She was picked out of list of 26 of the best and brightest the Republican Party had to offer, that were approved by A.B. Culvahouse.
She did so well answering the questionaire that Culvahouse was not only satisfied, he was thoroughly impressed.
Are you following me George? She didn’t impress some pundit struggling to maintain his weekly libfest gig on a MSM television show that no one watches anymore, she impressed A.B. Culvahouse.
His determination wasn’t that she got a passing grade, he said, quoting: ”She knocked it out of the park.” (See the above video if you don’t believe me George.)
And she didn’t just do well on the nuclear question that seems to haunt your nights either George. She was also asked about her response to news that Osama had been located, and that a strike against him might kill innocent people. She didn’t take 18 hours to think about it. Sarah Barracuda, no doubt thinking about the thousands of Americans killed, indicated that her response would be immediate and deadly.
I imagine that Culvahouse is less-surprised than you are that the American People seem to be rallying around the Palins’ working vacation. He actually sat down and talked to her before the MSM turned her into a caricature. He knows who she really is because his judgment about her isn’t colored by ad infinitum late-night misrepresentations.
Sunshine conservatives are always quick to discard the latest conservative target George, but what you and the other RINOs can’t ever seem to figure out is that the libs always know who the real enemy is, and they play you and your friends in the conga line for fools everytime.
Palin is hated by the MSM precisely because they know she still has the fortitude and courage Culvahouse discovered, and they know she will use it to dismantle the vast Federal Empire they worship.
Make no mistake, Obama knows too, and he won’t have a teleprompter when he stands toe to toe with Palin, and he won’t have much of a record either. Obama was never vetted like Palin was. His movement was not based on much more than a slogan that grew into a fad and culminated in a ”Hand’s Across America” moment that left a littered highway and arenas full of empty promises in its wake.
It’s now obvious for all to see now why he chose Biden the Gaffe Machine to be his Veep; he knew there were many days of fumbled toasts and teetering limos that lie in his future, and he needed a foil to deflect some of the detritis that would accumulate around him.
Does anyone believe Biden was vetted? If he was, and Obama chose him anyway, what does that say about his decision-making ability Georgie? And what, pray tell me, does your recent pronouncment about the mental stability of a true patriot say about yours?
