Barack Obama has just finished a month of the most crass, self-indulgent, embarassing, and insensitive behavior here and abroad and no one in the media is mentioning it. It is absolutely astounding how the media cover for him.
This weekend: The President arrived Sunday in Joplin, Missouri, A FULL WEEK after 139 people died, and 100 are still missing, from one of the worst tornadoes in the countrys history.
He TOURED JOPLIN for TEN MINUTES. He gave a TEN MINUTE SPEECH. He flew home. Michelle Obama flew to Ireland and England with her husband, drank beer, dressed up and chummed with the royals, but she was apparently too busy to go to Missouri. Or was she too tired from her vacation and resting up for her next one? Or the one after that? Or was it because this involved mostly-white grieving people, and didnt involve dancing, gangsta-cop-killer-rapping black people? [see schedule]
The president chewed gum while others gave speeches and prayers about the troubles in Joplin. Its probably what he does in church, since he has only been to church four times as president.
Obama was also visibly chewing gum at the G-20 summit last year, so much so that it was determined by many observers to be distracting and disrespectful. It was explained away as his nicotine replacement therapy because he is working so hard to quit smoking.
As if that should make a difference in presidential decorum.
On Memorial Day, the First Family had breakfast for one hour at the White House with Gold Star Families. He announced new Department of Defense appointments. He visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. All this was done before noon. [see schedule.]
Then he went golfing.
President Bush QUIT GOLFING completely once he declared a war. Completely. President Bush CERTAINLY would never have gone golfing on a national holiday dedicated to Americas war dead.
Never. Ever:
I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal, Mr Bush said in an online interview for Yahoo and Politico magazine.
I dont want some mum whose son may have recently died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them.
12th golf game this year, the 70th game of Obamas presidency.
The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.
Obama is out with the three younger aides he typically has in tow on his golf excursions, junior White House staffer Ben Finkenbinder, White House Trip Director Marvin Nicholson, and Energy Department staffer David Katz.
In a sign of his determination to play no matter what, Obama is golfing even though it is currently 95 degrees at Fort Belvoir and it feels like its 98 degrees, according to The Weather Channel.
Anyone who could go to the Arlington National Cemetery, to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, with grieving families, yards and yards of tombstones all around, and then totally disengage from that vision and moment and indulge himself in a golf game after being on vacation for a week, cant POSSIBLY have any feelings or emotional involvement in the meaning of Memorial day.
How could he not know that a solemn day of prayer is what would be appropriate?
Its deeper than that: Such an unfeeling person has no business being president of the United States.
Lets not forget that all of this self-indulgent behavior comes directly on the heels of a one-week eating/drinking binge in the U.K., a trip that was nothing more than a campaign ploy to pander to the Democrat Brahmins in New England. Despite the fact that the Obamas travelled with an astounding 1500 staff people, Obama committed embarassing protocol gaffes, including the toast to the Queen (and later blamed his many staff members for not preparing him.)
The president flubbed again when he refused to receive an award during lunch with the British Science Society, choosing instead to play ping-pong and high-five with boys at a local school:
Sources close to the state visit said members of the Royal Society were deeply offended by the snub and had accused Mr Obama of being obsessed with his street cred.
When Obama hosted the goodbye party from England, the Queen refused to toast him, and left early, reportedly disgusted at seeing celebrities and sports stars vigorously frisked by Obamas security personnel. This was only reported in the Indian media.
Nile Gardiner of the U.K. Telegraph says Obama was bumbling, unresponsive, and outclassed in a news conference with Prime Minister David Cameron [read it all]:
The lack of clarity in this Downing Street press conference was symbolic, I think, of a broader disarray in the Obama presidencys foreign and economic policy. A great deal of Barack Obamas leadership on the world stage has been muddled and uninspired, from the global financial crisis to the Middle East. This approach does not bode well for the White House in 2012.
Despite her personal full-time staff of 26, the First Lady turned herself out in Ireland and England with ghoulish hairdos, and expensive, unattractive dresses. The British media pointed out that recession-mindful Princess Kates dress was only $340, which Michelles weird silk poufy prom dress cost 5 times that and was deemed too young and dowdy by the truth-tellers in the British media. There were no questions asked about the cost or necessity of this trip. Mrs. Obama travelled home separately with her posse, which incurred more expense for the American taxpayers.
It is an incredible, mind-numbing insensitivity in these two. They are lavishing millions of dollars on themselves, masquerading Obamas re-election campaign as state travel. Why doesnt the Congress grow some balls and rein in their budget?
Barack Obama is a self-involved, narcissist pretender. He defiles the presidency and the White House. All this, yet he gets a pass on all of his outrageous behavior from the shameful, flaccid mainstream media. Imagine if George Bush had done ALL this what the media would say.
