The problem with both your thread title and personal posting is that Memorial Day is not a happy occasion. It was a national holiday set aside for the memorance of those in uniform, whom lost their lives for America in causes for and about America beginning with the aftermath of the Great War between the North and the South in 1861. Of course, after WW2, all of this changed.

Since the Korean War up to today, Memorial Day is for the memorance of those whom lost their lives around the world for useless and cheap/petty wars created by a goddamned US government for no reason other than political subterfuge for a dumbed downed American society.

In either case, it is not a happy occasion.

You have a good memorial day too. I think I'm going to barbecue some chicken. Or maybe splurge on some porterhouse steaks.

Celebrate the past.

Exactly how do you celebrate 60 years of US meddling around the world creating the issues that have no solution that confront us today?

Yesterday, the US patriot Act was reaffirmed with even more incredible fascist tyranny sanctions towards Americans. Do you see America becoming more free or less free with each passing day based on the REAL sacrifices of others in uniform?

We still have it better than pretty much anyone on earth.

But to answer your question. We are definately becoming less free. I don't like it. I blame it mostly on democrats. But also liberal Republicans known as RINOS.

Go get you a steak and enjoy it with the family.

See how pissed the Rolling Thunder organizers are at Palin's exploitation of their event focusing on honoring and remembering POWs and MIA servicemen Buck?

She's piggy backing on it to launch her little bus trip to begin her bust of an attempt to get the nomination.

She has no honor to do something like that. Some Memorial day.

We still have it better than pretty much anyone on earth.

You are showing your relativism side of politics, a trait that I see in most posters. Basically, you have stated that you have no fundamental principles and that you are open to dialog that modifies the world around you just as long as you aren't living in a mudhut in Africa (or something like that).

Your point is meaningless as America digresses into meaningless obscurity because of your own considerations.

But to answer your question. We are definately becoming less free. I don't like it. I blame it mostly on democrats. But also liberal Republicans known as RINOS.

Really? Let us see now: Eisenhower got us into South Vietnam, GHBush got us into Iraq, GWBush got us into Afghanistan/IraqII. All useless wars.

Go get you a steak and enjoy it with the family.

You act as though there is a psychology of dying for your nation worthy of a tribute or celebration. Why do you think you are worthy to to toast an honour for American lives lost in wars between 1950 and today?

No I am saying man is sinful and always will be. We will never get the perfect country. It never was and never will be. All we can do is try to make it better. We can make it better. There will always be room for improvement.

Of course. It is a disgrace.

She's piggy backing on it to launch her little bus trip to begin her bust of an attempt to get the nomination.

It is all politics, Politics, POLITICS. If she had just kept her nose powdered and delivered a nice little message on her twitter blog, all would have been OK. I am sick and tired of these vile politicians celebrating an otherwise horrific day. They don't know the tragedies of war; they are ignorant and they want to continue the errors of the past 60 years over and over and over until they have all destroyed what was once the greatest nation of the planet.

She has no honor to do something like that. Some Memorial day.

I fully agree with you.

So, since 1948, America has to be the WORLD POLICE? What new nations are you willing to support or not support (go to war with) to make America a better place?

We don't need to go to war with anyone to make it a better country. We need to withdrawal from our 3 war zones.

We need to end trade deals that put us last too.

I guess you just don't get it. You are haggling over semantic details (based on your own characterization) that have nothing to do with the thread contents.

Both of the political parties have created the problems America realizes today. And, it goes without saying, the American People are too STUPID to realize that they have been lied to for the past 60 years by both political parties, too.

I agree both parties screwed it up.

But the democrats have evil in their platform.

There are at least some good Republicans.

We need more Rand Pauls and less Paul Ryans.

We were there for the oil and tire companies. Kennedy screwed it up by dying too soon. Johnson and his oil buddies are the ones you have the problem with.

BS.

You are just like any of the other 120,000,000 voters in America believing in a so-called "leader as they see fit" that with contemporary US government policies can use the power of office.

What we need are 120,000,000 Americans that believe in themselves and country BEFORE any government body or official; people with courage, conviction and principles while voting. Then America might see a real change.

How do you get more Rand Pauls?

When you have more informed people like me voting. You might even say 119,987,231 more.

And never fear; Jeb Bush will return in 2016 to restore the NeoCon S&M war games as he tries to convince people to go back to those good old mission accomplished days of brother Smirk.

He's counting on people's general memory oif how horrible a job his brother did will be dim enough he can get a chance at giving us a third Bush.

Your pleas go nowhere with me. This nation is DEAD. It is DEAD because of the atrocities committed around the world which created the BACKFIRE we see as of yesterday's US Senate votes (against Rand Paul's own amendments) on the US Patriot Act extension.

The US government's expansion of military might around the world has IN FACT caused decreased domestic security. And, there is no way out of the vicious cycle unless you or anyone considers a singular exception: the ultimate option.

Celebrate the past.

No.

Remember and honor the acts and lives of OUR ancestors in the past that have paid for the LIBERTY in our lives that we all are living now.

Spoiled, stupid and ignorant, brain dead phuckwads, libTURD fools, tools, and idiots, are the real sickness; the messiah "king" obammy and his regime are only the symptoms.

I am pleased to see there were at least two here at LF who took my post as nothing more than a kind gesture, and sincere, heartfelt wishes, and not some political statement.

God Bless the both of you, and may this weekend be happy with family, dispite the grief we may feel for those we lost.

As for the other's, let them wallow in their own self-pity and pissed off world, they're nothing more than attention whores anyway, so they can talk/bitch among themselves on my BOZO, while I have another cold Bud and burger! &;-)

You're turning into Rahm Emmanuel...don't.
Nations don't die, ideas do. The below may be embellished, but the ideas presented still raise hairs on my arms.

Enjoy the weekend and God bless America.
