Leaked private messages from one of Sarah Palin’s top aides offer insight into how in people in Palin’s inner circle really feel about her, her family and fellow politicians. Today, The Daily Caller published a series of inflammatory messages Palin’s speechwriter and domestic policy adviser Rebecca Mansour sent last year via Twitter. Mansour’s tweets were sent as “direct messages” – meaning they went to one party and were not disseminated publicly until today. In one series of messages, Mansour belittles Palin’s eldest daughter, Bristol. Last July, After Bristol announced that she was planning to marry Levi Johnston, the father of her son, Mansour wrote, “I wish they were the Cleavers too. But it’s life.” “Two words: Patti Davis. Okay three more: Ron Reagan Junior. Two more: Billy Carter. Doesn’t your family have one?,” Mansour wrote. “She (meaning Palin, presumably) will hold her at arm’s length. Even Thatcher was never able to disown her screw up son Mark. It’s a Mom thing.”

"Thats because your basically and idiot." Ron Reagan Junior, outside of not agreeing with his father's politics all the time was not a 'black sheep' of that family. He was a well regarded performer and was never arrested, drunk in public, etc My guess is because he disagreed with his dad and was a professional dancer that makes him suspect in the eyes of the right wing kooks.

None of the children were particularly close with the Father and Nancy worked hard to make up for it. Ron loved his Father...
America...My Kind Of Place... "I truly am not that concerned about [bin Laden]..." I am just wondering why the right always throws Ron in with the Billy Carters, etc. He was not a joke or a failure or any of that.

Ron's smart... BTW, Billy Carter was too... I do find it somewhat ironic that they did make fun of Billy Carter who lived a life that the right loves to romanticize as being "true American"...

The only thing I remember about Billy Carter is that he was portrayed as a near do well hustler, trying to cash in on beer with his name and in one case trying to hit Qaddafi up for investment money - but I can't recall if that was true or not.

A friend of mine told me a Billy Carter story. His son was about ten years old and flying back alone from a visit to his mother's home in Georgia to Louisville. Old Billy Carter took a shine to the kid on the flight and treated him like a little king. I think he gave him some souvenirs and stuff. He walked with the boy at the airport to meet his dad, my friend, and told him what a fine son he had. End of story. Edit: I think Billy Carter was visiting Louisville to promote his Billy Beer product.
My best memory of Billy Carter is Gary Busey playing him in an SNL skit.
