Lottery winner Leroy Fick is ruffling feathers in his home state of Michigan over his continued use of food stamps.

The 59-year-old won $2 million in the state's Make Me Rich lotto last June. But the windfall still hasn't stopped him from using the Bridgeport Card, Michigan's version of food stamps.

"He is showing off a new convertible in the parking lot, then comes in store and pays with a Bridge card!" exclaimed one outraged resident. "Really annoying -- he has the money, and my kids are eating Ramen noodles."

"You're going to sit there and make me feel bad -- you aren't going to do it," Fick fired back. "It ain't going to happen, so you might as well just ship on out of here."

Fick says his actions aren't illegal and that he should still be able to use the bridge card since the IRS took about a million dollars of his winnings for taxes. Fick's attorney, John Wilson agreed.

"He's not trying to cheat the state. Based on his income, he's eligible," Wilson explained, adding that Fick is not leading the life of a millionaire.

"He lives a simple life," he said. "He doesn't even have the Internet."

It must vary from State to State, but I always thought there was an asset means test as well as an income means test for food card eligibility.

Now, I know I’m not going to change the minds of any of the True Believers…those who read all of Reverend Al’s sermons, and say things like, “You know, global warming can mean warmer OR colder, wetter OR drier, cloudier OR sunnier, windier OR calmer, …”. Can I get an ‘amen’??

That makes sense.

"Really annoying -- he has the money, and my kids are eating Ramen noodles."

Those Ramen noodles are high in sodium and will cause your kids to be fat and unhealthy.

Class warfare between the lower classes.

I saw FOX host Judge something or other (she looks like a hispanic female) go off on this guy in the studio - and her guest told her he invested the remaining money so he can draw a modest income from his investment for the remainder of his life - an income so small it still qualifies him for food stamps.

The balance of his winnings are not sitting in a bank account (which would disqualify him).

What you have going on here is lower income vs slightly lower income class warfare. The real rich class is left alone and the rest of the population is asked to fight amongst themselves for the remaining scraps off the trickle down table.

I'd guess 90 percent of Lotto ticket purchasers are low income folks.

That makes sense.

It makes sense to who???

So if I earn $2 million this year building an internet business and the government take $1 million in taxes, can I collect food stamps too?
