Joplin, Missouri (CNN) -- A tornado that chewed through a densely populated area of Joplin, Missouri, killed at least 89 people as it tore apart homes and businesses, ripped into a high school and caused severe damage to one of the two hospitals in the city, officials said Monday. "Everybody's going to know people who are dead," said CNN iReporter Zach Tusinger, who said his aunt and uncle died in the tornado. "You could have probably dropped a nuclear bomb on the town and I don't think it would have done near as much damage as it did."

These unprecedented storms (something unheard of) are happening in areas where the concentration of climate change deniers is strongest (the core Red States). Reality is a bitch.

Reality is a bitch. Here in Virginia our Conservative Republican governor whom many are touting as a potential VP pick next year is whining because FEMA won't give federal aid to a very small area hit by tornadoes a few weeks ago.

Took us 2 weeks (and only then did we find that the house was in a designated flood plain) to repair. The same couple called us hours after we got home saying they still wanted to buy it...8D Since then, we've been like good Republicans. Always build on a hill. Never live where you're looking up at the railroad or Highway.
And I left New Orleans in 1978. I could not get dry. Garbage starts smelling w/in minutes. And the cockroaches fly. No thank you. 8D But I'd rather live there than NYC. Just sayin', 8D
