Mitt Romney is pushing back against the scathing Wall Street Journal editorial that greeted his Thursday health care speech, saying the paper unfairly blamed the Massachusetts reform law for the state's continuing problems. But the Journal editorial writers remain unmoved by Romney's speech, writing Friday that the reform he is now proposing is too far away from what he did in Massachusetts, which is too close to federal health reform. "These are unbridgeable policy and philosophical differences, though Mr. Romney is nonetheless trying to leap over them like Evel Knievel heading for the Snake River Canyon," it reads

The GOP primary will be a good test of the Tea Party's strength. The GOP almost always nominates the person that was the runner up in the last primary. Romney was the runner up, but his healthcare fiasco in Massachusetts has been almost uniformly rejected by Tea Partiers and fiscal conservatives in general. If Romney manages to get the nomination, the Tea Party will be seen as dead. If the Tea Partiers manage to stop Romney from getting the nomination, they will be a force in American politics for a long time to come.
that's what the far left thought when they got their guy nominated in 1972. Those who are successful in general elections are moderates who can appeal to the extremes, not extremists.
