Engineers from the Tokyo Electric Power company (Tepco) entered the No.1 reactor at the end of last week for the first time and saw the top five feet or so of the core's 13ft-long fuel rods had been exposed to the air and melted down. Previously, Tepco believed that the core of the reactor was submerged in enough water to keep it stable and that only 55 per cent of the core had been damaged. Now the company is worried that the molten pool of radioactive fuel may have burned a hole through the bottom of the containment vessel, causing water to leak. "We will have to revise our plans," said Junichi Matsumoto, a spokesman for Tepco. "We cannot deny the possibility that a hole in the pressure vessel caused water to leak". Tepco has not clarified what other barriers there are to stop radioactive fuel leaking if the steel containment vessel has been breached. Greenpeace said the situation could escalate rapidly if "the lava melts through the vessel".

Breathing that stuff in day in and day out leads to Trailer Park Syndrome which many doctors are finally catching onto. It's in lots of remodels too, especially in the offices of businesses where the owners believe the bottom line is king. But heh, construction business have known about the untoward qualities of formaldehyde in ill ventilated spaces for generations and still use those products. Buyer beware!

I am a qualified reactor operator, on two separate reactor designs. What's YOUR qualifications? Oh, that's right, you don't HAVE any... you know NOTHING about nuke reactors, and what it really means, when they say the core had a meltdown. For those of us who DO know and understand, the ultimate ramifications are... minor. Now STFU, you empty-headed twit.

Capitalist Eric just outed himself, like most of the tea party cranks, he actually draws a salary from a govt linked institution. If he works for the nuclear power industry, then he works for directly or indirectly a govt owned or financed or underwritten entity. What a filthy hypocrite eric is.

All you have to know is that there is now way to stop a Thermonuclear Reaction. In One Year or 1000, there will still be 6 thermonuclear reactions ongoing at Fukushima.
(senior reactor operator) I was. BTW, SRO is "SHUTDOWN Reactor Operator." SRO happens to be the senior watchstation. A critical reactor in the normal power range is far more forgiving, due to self- correcting design parameters, (poisons, water as both moderator and reflector, etc.) At S/D, none of those protective design features come into play, thus the SRO was the senior watchstation, due to the ease with which you can break a reactor (BFPL, for example).

You have no idea what you're talking about. Of course, you display all the signs of membership within the collectivist fringe, as detailed HERE. It particularly nails your ass to the wall, with Their world view has been entirely scripted for them, and rarely is an original thought ever uttered from their lips. Anyone who presents a view outside of the mainstream script is automatically and viciously attacked. A very common collectivist reaction to any opposing view is to use Ad hominem tactics to disparage the person presenting the view, instead of confronting their view directly. The 60 Minute segment above is simply one long Ad hominem attack linking anyone who promotes Constitutionalist ideals or anti-establishment arguments with killers, racists, and terrorists (The father of one of the police officers slain by the Kane’s claims that if his son had know they were “Sovereign Citizens”, he would still be alive today; insinuating that ANYONE who makes sovereignty arguments should be considered armed and dangerous by police, and treated as guilty before proven innocent). Collectivists use these kinds of tactics for the most part because they do not have the mental capacity to defend their twisted ideals with any vigor, and would surely lose a fair debate on neutral ground. See themselves as “intellectual”, or rather, far more ingenious than the majority of people. This would be fine if they actually were intelligent, but in fact, this is rarely the case. Average collectivists tend to be undereducated, slow witted, and easily manipulated, but because they have conformed to the establishment social model so thoroughly, they still find themselves climbing the ladder of “success” (success in today’s typical business environment usually includes backstabbing and/or shameless butt kissing). This gives them severe delusions of grandeur. It is common to hear them rant about overpopulation, and the need to “weed out the inferiors”, of which they obviously do not include themselves, but should.
