This is a new series of videos on You Tube by people who free themselves from Joseph Smith's grand con. The You Tube channel is, iamanexmormon.
You can say that all religions are not based on reality (which is of course true since religion is "supernatural" and thus outside of our reality) but there is a difference with a religion founded naturally through the course of human events compared to a religion made up on the spot by one guy.
Also, Joseph Smith came from a period in America where people went religious crazy with many different cults and movements coming about and Smith was part of tradition that practiced a crude form of folk magic, that is forgotten now but used to be practiced by Americans and thus had some ability to make what he was doing seem "God" inspired.
