Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has removed two influential neo-conservative advisers from her inner circle and replaced them with people who have a more pragmatic view towards American foreign policy.
The advisers, Orion Strategies Randy Scheunemann, the former executive director of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, and Michael Goldfarb, a former reporter and protege of Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, have been shaping Palins conconservative foreign policy stance since she ran as John McCains running mate in 2008, reports Politco.com. The two left her PAC on good terms, Palin aide Tim Crawford told the online paper.
Replacing Scheunemann and Goldfarb is Peter Schweizer, a writer and fellow at Stanford Universitys Hoover Institution who blogs regularly at Andrew Breitbarts Big Peace. Schweizer has articulated a more skeptical view of the use of American force and promotion of democracy abroad, Politico noted.
In a piece critical of US President Barack Obamas handling of populist uprisings in the Middle East, Schweizer wrote that Egypt has done a lot of things wrong, but they have also been pro-American on a lot of levels, and noted hypocrisy in Obamas policy when it came to handling his support for protestors in Iran.
Schweizer has also been skeptical of American involvement in Libya, which he compared to Vietnam, speculated that France is on the brink of a violent civil war between radical Muslims and its resurgent right, Politico wrote.
Palin made her new foreign policy outlook known during speech at Colorado Christian Univerisity on Wednesday, when she said the US should only commit our forces when clear and vital American interests are at stake. Period. Palin then dissmissed nation-building as a nice idea in theory, but not the main purpose guiding American foreign policy.
In her opening, Palin praised the American veteran whose sacrifice allows for, among other things, the burning of the American flag.

This is really good news if she is sincere, and not just doing some political posturing.
I do question the sincerity, though. How can she be pro-empire one moment, and anti-empire the next? Is she such a hollow shell her advisers have to fill her with opinions about right and wrong?
I do NOT question her ability to grow and learn, though. IF she is sincere it means she has the ability to admit she was mistaken and to learn from mistakes. This would be huge. I guess time will tell. If she suddenly switches back when the campaign heats up,we will all know she is nothing but a parrot.

Who cleverly used her lips and tongue to put it out.

If you haven't heard her babbling nonsense about Iraq,Afghanistan, and especially Israel, you really haven't been paying any attention.
I have no doubts she has been babbling nonsense about Libya and Egypt, too.

Now, if she would remove her Israeli advisors, she may have a chance at a good comeback.
I ain't so worried about Palin. I don't think she has a snowball's chance in he** to even win the nomination much less become president. But what scares me is knowing that the Neocons are just drooling over the opportunity to take out Obama and wrap their claws around a new Republican administration to finish their agenda.
Just because she supports the war doesn't necessarily make her a seeker of empire or however you put it.
That is why I wondered what specifically she said that troubled you.
To the best of my knowledge she has NEVER disagreed with either Boy Jorge or John McLunatic when it comes to foreign policy or anything else.
Make of that what you will.

Then you have plenty to worry about because Obama is Bush 4.0,so if he wins you lose, and if he loses you lose because you can be sure the RINO candidate will be Bush 5.0.

No Obama has no Neocon advisers and he hasn't adopted the "freedom" agenda which is code for starting large scale wars to protect Israel. He has removed combat troops from Iraq and is going to start withdrawing troops from Afghanistan (which the Neocons could care less about) this year. Even in Libya we are taking a backseat role and are not going to get involved in a ground invasion. You can't possibly say that Obama has adopted Bush's foreign policy.

I knew she had good sensibilities. When I found out that she was pals with Bill Kristol and his neo-commie buddies, it bothered me to no end.
I don't know anything about Randy Scheunemann but Michael Goldfarb is a major war monger, and in Bill Kristol's back pocket. It's great that she jettisoned this monster.
Palin has demonstrated that she is not afraid to make changes based on learning something new.
How many politicians can do that? Not many.
