The winners in last night's GOP debate? The Fox News Channel was the biggest. The cable network's moderators asked questions that were reasonably tough, well-researched, and less flawed than is typical. America could always do a lot better when it comes to what is asked of its presidential candidates. Relatively speaking, however, kudos are owed, even if former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson got a silly question about what reality TV show he would host if given the chance. (He flubbed it too -- the answer is clearly "The Amazing Race.") Libertarians had a great night too: they accounted for two-fifths of the people on stage for the only time in memory, and were allowed to make their points without being attacked because none of the other candidates saw them as a threat. As a result, Fox News viewers heard unrebutted and lengthy arguments for ending the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, as well as ending the war on drugs. Has that ever happened before on America's top rated cable news network?

we've come a long way from Fox news trying to ban Ron Paul from debates in 2008 for his views on war/drugs.
"Thats because your basically and idiot." Ron Paul reaffirmed he's a crank, and Johnson just came off as a whiner. Flavor of the month is now Herman Cain. The good news? Nobody heard from carnival barker Trump. The other good news? Nobody heard from lard ass Huckabee. The OTHER good news? All of them understand 'Its the economy, stupid!' which is the silver bullet Owe-bama cannot dodge come November, 2012.

If job growth continues to accelerate, the GOP needs to put more time into thinking about 2016 than 2012.

legalization of heroin...again...(eyes rolling) He could make a great case for decriminalizing/legalizing marijuana, but as I noted above, he simply doesn't know when to shut up. Trump's got that same problem, magnified btw.

What he said was that it would be up to the states. (as he's always said, the fed should be out of the drug enforcement business) But, even though I agree with his statement, he did come off as rather kooky saying it.
I know what you mean. He doesn't stick to and simplify individual issues and go for the good 'sound byte'. Instead he gets too deep into his political philosophy.
