" I was by far the most liberal member of my team, but they actually liked that as I brought a perspective they thought useful when working in the field, training or real world. And it is no boast, just a fact. I don't mention it much, because I don't want to disrespect anyone with a boast. SF is quiet, sneaky and unassuming and will socialize with people like say leg infantry troops much more readily than 'varsity' infantry which is basically Rangers are. It does not matter how rough, tough, lean and mean a Ranger is when he goes to the selection phase before the SFQC if he does not show he understands SF level of teamwork and the qualities that part of the U.S. Army values very highly. It's a little bit of both, some old members were kept and some weren't.... The named was changed to The United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), commonly known as DEVGRU and "informally" by its former name SEAL Team Six (ST6). From what I have found out it has a different name at this time (secret by the way) but is still "informally/unofficially" called by it's old name ST6. That is the name the press has been using forever and the one the public knows..... They know they go and whack the bad guy so why confuse the public with a different name..... They train and operate in secret, you are recruited to join them and you cannot volunteer to be a team member..... It has to be that way so they can come and go as they please anywhere in the world, and not be recognized for who or what they are.... and also not have to worry about their families back home..... Also why let your enemies know what the team is currently called, who the current commander is, who the current team members are...where they are currently stationed....etc....etc....etc....
