I was part of a Special Forces A Team. I have a better background in low intensity conflict than you, and I understand asymmetrical combat (terrorism) better than you as it is from the perspective from having been inside the military as part of SOCOM.
I did look it up, and I bet I surf the web on it more intelligently and effectively regarding this topic than you do.
Whatever you think, bragging doesn't make it so.......

Do you know Craig Sawyer???? If you do then you know my source.....

I was by far the most liberal member of my team, but they actually liked that as I brought a perspective they thought useful when working in the field, training or real world.
And it is no boast, just a fact. I don't mention it much, because I don't want to disrespect anyone with a boast.
SF is quiet, sneaky and unassuming and will socialize with people like say leg infantry troops much more readily than 'varsity' infantry which is basically Rangers are.
It does not matter how rough, tough, lean and mean a Ranger is when he goes to the selection phase before the SFQC if he does not show he understands SF level of teamwork and the qualities that part of the U.S. Army values very highly. He will be given the duffel bag drag back to Ranger Country id he shows too much arrogance and cockiness.
Indeed. I love them dearly and have the deepest of respect for them too.
WHich is why I get very surly if I feel them disrespected in anyway. They are a special breed of men.
I could not do what they do. In any coin check at a club, a Seal coin trumps an SF one every day of the week. Unless there is a leg with no coin present to completely fail to become the check payer.
I did??? Hmmm..... So what do the words "technically" and "unofficially" mean then?????
Quote: "The military team that killed Osama Bin Laden is an elite special forces group "unofficially" called Seal Team 6".
"Officially, the team's name is classified and not available to the public, technically there is "NO" team 6".
When a former Navy SEAL was called for a comment about this article all he could say was: "You know I'd love to help you man, but I can't say a word about Team 6. There is "NO" Team 6." :Unquote
So why don't you ask Craig Sawyer what he thinks???? He was recruited for that "unofficial" team and is retired from that "unofficial" team. And the word "unofficial" is a word quoted from his mouth.....
Or are you going to tell me my source is BS???????

I have the deepest respect for Craig Sawyer and all the men like him, they are heroes in my book.... They do what I could never do, all I could do was support the guys that fly cover for them.... They help to keep this country safe and do it without fanfare and under the cloak of anonymity... (which is the way it "HAS" to be for them to be effective).... So if I seen him or any of his friends in a bar I would definately buy them rounds until they left or passed out... LOL.....

How does it feel to wake up and spank war first thing?
So does he actually wear Spandex??????

#40. To: CZ82, Ferret Mike, War, A K A Stone (#21)
Eric Greitens is a Navy SEAL, a commando who has helped track down al-Qaida operatives in Afghanistan. Challenging enough. But Greitens told me that the SEALs who raided Osama bin Laden's compound on Monday are a cut above. They are not just SEALs. They are members of SEAL Team Six, a secretive, anti-terror unit that is rarely even acknowledged by the military.
"They are really the very best of the best," says Greitens. "They are experienced operators who have years under their belts conducting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan."
The irony, of course, is liberals find anyone in the military appalling and nothing more than 'dead enders'.
Experts who have researched voting trends within the military say there is little conclusive data on the political choices of active-duty service members, largely because their numbers are too small to show up in nationwide electoral surveys such as the Gallup Poll.
But slivers of data -- such as exit polling of military veterans and campaign contribution lists -- suggest that support for Republican presidential candidates within the U.S. military has declined over the last eight years, enabling Obama to increase Democrats' take of the military vote Tuesday.
You really make yourself look dumb when you make foolish statements like this.

Team 6 by any other name is still team 6.

Sorry, dumbass, John Kerry's comments demonstrate my point conclusively.
Many liberals found John Kerry appalling. Meanwhile, the fact that Conservatives adore a guy who used a cyst on his ass to get out of military service and another who said he had "other priorities" than serving in the military reflects the utter disdain Conservatives have for the military and anyone who serves.
After all, conservatives sent thousands of American military members to die in Iraq for no good reason.

So why don't you post "PROOF" that Seal Team 6 "CURRENTLY" exists, all I hear and see is conjecture........
For Instance: Who is it's current commander??? Who the members are???? How many menbers does it have???? What is the name of their home base????

So if those questions can't be answered Team 6 doesn't exist?
Pretty much!!!!
I'll give you a hint, ST6 was formally disbanded in 1987..... ST6 is only a moniker today.....
They live, train and operate in anonymity, it has to be that way if they want to survive at home and abroad.....

Yeah, why not release the names and addresses of all their family members, too? This cover-up had gone on too long.
That will never happen.......

It's a little bit of both, some old members were kept and some weren't.... The named was changed to The United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), commonly known as DEVGRU and "informally" by its former name SEAL Team Six (ST6). From what I have found out it has a different name at this time (secret by the way) but is still "informally/unofficially" called by it's old name ST6. That is the name the press has been using forever and the one the public knows..... They know they go and whack the bad guy so why confuse the public with a different name.....
They train and operate in secret, you are recruited to join them and you cannot volunteer to be a team member..... It has to be that way so they can come and go as they please anywhere in the world, and not be recognized for who or what they are.... and also not have to worry about their families back home.....
Also why let your enemies know what the team is currently called, who the current commander is, who the current team members are...where they are currently stationed....etc....etc....etc.... They don't need to know that information... and really, neither do we.....
