Eight horses - one just a week old and another ready to give birth - died in a raging barn fire in Ohio that lawmen think was set because of hatred for gays. Brent Whitehouse of McConnelsville said an orange glow outside his home on Easter night drew him to the horror. "I ran out there, but the doors of my barn wouldn't open and suddenly, flames were shooting up through the roof. That barn was gone in five minutes," he told the Zanesville Times Recorder. The flames were so hot a tractor inside the barn melted. Still visible on the remains of the gutted barn's walls Tuesday were spray-painted epithets such as "f-gs are freaks" and "burn in hell," the newspaper reported. Because Whitehouse is gay and fire marshals determined the blaze was arson, the scrawlings were enough for authorities to launch an investigation into whether a hate crime had been committed. The value of the horses was said to be in hundreds of thousands of dollars but Whitehouse, who owns an insurance company in the tiny village in southeastern Ohio, was hurt far more by the loss of Elvis, Barney, Love, Bella and Ethel, Floyd and Princess and her week-old foal, Buddy. "The barn I can rebuild, but the bond I had with those horses can't be replaced," said Whitehouse "Whoever did this had to walk right by all those horses, including the baby, and didn't care that they were killing a gentle, loving animal," he told the newspaper. "I just don't understand someone wanting to kill innocent animals. It's like killing a child." Of the messages on the barn, Whitehouse could only shake his head and say, "They were hateful," A reward of $5,000,sponsored by the Ohio FAIR Plan Underwriting Association, was put up Tuesday in hopes it will bring information leading to whoever set the barn ablaze. What this item asks its readers to believe is incredible. Why burn down a barn to vent anger against homosexuals? Makes about as much sense as the black churches burned down in Bent Willie's childhood that never happened.

There is no such thing as a hate crime. Why do freak faggots think they get special treatment. The crime is Arson and maybe others. Not hate crime.
I see it is more imporant to you to defend your hate than to get angry at a crime designed to cause deep pain, loss and revenge over what two consenting adults do in their bedroom. Your thinly disguised happiness at this man and community's suffering is obscene. Homophobia is a disease rooted deep in the soul, and hate crimes happen, and cannot be dismissed by someone who invests their heart in the hate causing them.

Ok cruelty to animals. Does that carry more of a penalty then say murdering your baby and using the word abortion to describe it. Abortion is a hate crime.
According to your hate driven logic, had they killed this man by burning down is house, they would only be arsonists who had the misfortune of a gay man being too stupid to wake up before smoke inhalation overcame him. And you would accuse the man of dying only to unduly excite people who aren't as poisoned with hatred as you.

I agree. We just had a group of teenagers prosecuted here for beating an Alpaca to death just for kicks. I don't buy the 'hate crime' bullshit. All crime is 'hateful' and its no worse because somebody screams 'faggot' while beating somebody, or 'honkey' or or or. What was done here was just fucked up, and whoever did it needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I agree, and I hope they are locked up a long long time for their revolting and hideous crimes. I myself have had to flee for my life with my brothers and sisters from a burning house in the middle of the night escaping from the master bedroom's balcony because the stairs were blocked. I have a special revulsion for people who start fires. And she who was habitually drunk and a smoker should of lost custody of her kids for endangering their lives. While we were waiting for the house in Clinton, CT to be repaired, she got drunk and started a fire the day before Christmas because she had left wrapping paper near the burner of the stove, and a couple of weeks after that while we still lived in that smoke stenched rented house started a third fire by falling asleep in bed with a lit cigarette. The stress from dealing with an itemized inventory for insurance and getting the house repaired exacerbated her alcoholism quite a bit. A few years before this series of three fires, my youngest sister started a fire playing with matches. That was the only daytime fire of the four I have endured as a kid. My feelings on this run profoundly deep. These hateful fire bugs would not want me to be the judge at their trial.
They made plain their motive for this crime with spray paint. When you kill helpless animals, burn private property and sign it with the motive for your crime to deepen the pain and strike a sense of terror in gay people that they better watch whom the sleep with or they could be next, it is indeed a hate crime. The element of terrorism created by communicating a motive based on irrational hatred makes it so.
Sorry, 'hate crime' is pure political bullshit in my view. Don't disagree with anything else you said. But thats just absurd political rhetoric. When you get around to making black males attacking caucasians a 'hate crime' get back to me on that aspect. Til then, its just liberal bullshit.
