Panetta, Petraeus, Allen, Crocker: President Obama Orders National Security Team Reshuffle

Sources tell ABC News that President Obama will nominate CIA director Leon Panetta to replace Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The president will nominate Gen. David Petraeus to serve as director of the CIA.

The president will also nominate Marine General John Allen to replace Petraeus as ISAF commander in Afghanistan, and Ryan Crocker as US Ambassador to Afghanistan, replacing Karl Eikenberry.

The announcements are formally expected tomorrow. An announcement for the new Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman will likely not be part of this announcement.

Hopefully a Marine can declare victory and get us out of there ASAP.

9 Americans Dead After Afghan Officer Opens Fire

By LOLITA C. BALDOR and RAHIM FAIEZ Associated Press KABUL, Afghanistan April 27, 2011 (AP)

Eight American troops and a U.S. contractor died Wednesday after an Afghan military pilot opened fire during a meeting at Kabul airport — the deadliest episode to date of an Afghan turning against his coalition partners, officials said.

Know how hard it was to get sourced that it was 9 US that were killed here?

"In a statement posted on the Taliban website, spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the assailant died "when he ran out of bullets."

When we leave the Afghans, we might as well be leaving everywhere.

BTW, speaking of everywhere, whose side do we take in the new Cambodia/Thailand war? Just askin....

It was a main feature on the evening news, although the details reported are suspect to me. The 48 year-old shooter lined them up execution style...

Panetta's CIA was a disaster in the M.E.
Let's put him in charge of the military?

Leon’s ‘military experience’ was two years [’64- ‘66] as a 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Ord, California – then just a basic training post. Although his job title was ‘Intelligence Officer’ – it consisted of reading reports written by others and doing odd staff jobs – because there was no ‘intelligence’ to process.

Birther first....

The CIA/DoD/Petraeus/Panetta

The US dead sandwiched.

Then the wedding...

We will not be told. You are on your own...

That's the pattern.

And nothing on MS/Ohio/Tennessee River floods...

Last evening on my way home via the back roads I encountered a water obstacle. It may have been 6 - 10 inches deep, but I turned around not wanting to take any chances.

Locally, they say this is the wettest April ever.

About 13 ½ inches of rain has fallen in April in Louisville, eclipsing the record of 11.1 inches set in 1970. Wednesday also set a record for rainfall on that date, with 2.9 inches falling, breaking the mark of 1.3 inches set in 2002.

In the rainy state of Oregon, we call a place only getting 13.5 inches of rain in April a desert. ;-D

Thanx for that.

The corps gonna blow the MS River levee because of rain like that.

Missouri is freaked even though it's been designated the New Madrid Floodway since 1937.

This is the biggest flood ever for us. The White River has two Class 1 dams (at least).

Water's going over the top with all of them...
