Republicans will flock to the polls next year to decide who will be the 2012 presidential nominee.
For senator Rand Paul it might be an easy choice as to whom he chooses to throw his support too.
"Hmmm... We'll you know I might have a relative running, so there have been rumors that my father might run again," said Senator Paul.
If his father Congressman Ron Paul does decide to run, Senator Paul did make one promise.
"I've said that he is my landlord in Washington, I live with him, so I can't make him mad. I told him the one thing I would not do is run against him," said Senator Paul.
While he won't run against his father, running on the ticket with him probably isn't an option either.
"I don't think so. I think too many people would think that was weird," said Paul.
Other high profile people have tested the waters like Donald Trump.
"I think it's very hard for an entertainer to be taken seriously as a candidate. It's very easy to be perceived as frivolous and I think that since all he seems to be talking about is the president's birth certificate, I think that he's already pushed himself way off to the edge of things that it'll be hard to be considered seriously," said Senator Paul.
Then there's the woman who made the Tea Party a household name and endorsed Paul for his U.S. Senate run.
"I do like some things about Sarah Palin and I think she's a force to be reckoned with," said Senator Paul.
If Senator Paul does have to choose a candidate to back, he'll look for tea party values.
"I think like I said during the campaign... just being a republican is not good enough for me. You have to believe in something," said Senator Paul.
Senator Paul says his father might have an announcement in the next month about his presidential run.
A Pew Research Center survey found that more than half of Americans cannot name a single GOP candidate.
According to the survey, Donald Trump is already victorious in one contest, he was the potential candidate that Americans have heard the most about.
