Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday vetoed a bill to require President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove their U.S. citizenship before their names can appear on the state's ballot.

The bill vetoed by Brewer on Monday would have made Arizona the first state to pass such a requirement. The Arizona bill included proof-of-qualification for all candidates appearing on Arizona ballots, with those varying by the office sought.

Hawaii officials have certified Obama was born in that state, but so-called "birthers" have demanded more proof.

Brewer said in her veto letter that she was troubled that the bill empowered Arizona's secretary of state to judge the qualifications of all candidates when they file to run for office.

"I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions," said Brewer, who was secretary of state until she became governor in 2009.

"In addition, I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president of the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth to submit their early baptismal circumcision certificates' among other records to the Arizona secretary of state," she said. "This is a bridge too far."

The certificates are among the documents a candidate could submit in place of a birth certificate.

Can you imagine if all 50 states required that the same long form BC HAD to be on file?

Cite the clause to which you are referring.

Thanks...

Article II Section I, U.S. Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

You can find it yourself. Last time I'll do your homework.

Where's the part about a birth certificate?

That would be the proof, it would certify it.

The founders wanted everyone to carry legal papers, documenting their right to exist, around? I thought that was the tyranny they came to America to escape.

No need to carry your birth certificate around. But you can keep it at home and if you run for president you can bring a copy. Or if you happen to have lost it. The original would be at the hospital you were born at or someplace else.

Do you not agree that a person has to be a natural born citizen to be President lawfully?

If you think that you should have to be natural born citizen. How would you enforce that requirement?

In Obama's case...which home?

Well, the one that would have applied at the time would have been the mansion in Chicago his mobster buddy arranged for him to buy.

Or if he needs one now,I'm sure there are people right in the house he is living in that would be more than happy to do the footwork to push the paperwork forward for him.

Or are you saying the President of the United States is too stupid to figure out how to get a copy of his birth certificate?

Obama did get a copy of his.

And don't waste my time with a bogus COLB. They ain't the same thing. If they were,it would be called a birth certificate.

No,that is not what I wrote, and you know it. IF a COLB were a birth certificate, they bureaucrats would CALL it a birth certificate instead of a COLB.

They do call it a birth certificate. If you go the Hawaii website where you can order the birth certificate they call it a birth certificate. If you go to the Stste Department website for ordering a passport it states quite clearly that what Obama has is a legitimate document.

Then why doesn't the acting president go to that web site and order his instead of that lame-ass COLB his people produced?

What is really going on is you are spinning again and trying to confuse the issue. Yes,you CAN order your birth certificate from the state of Hawaii if you were born there. You can also order a COLB.

If you go to the Stste Department website for ordering a passport it states quite clearly that what Obama has is a legitimate document.

LOL! How do they know what he has, since according to his own people all he has is the COLB?

Also, take note that the political appointee there was appointed by the acting president, and can be fired by the acting president at any time. Do you REALLY think he is going to cross his boss?

When you order the birth certificate that it was you get.

I really need to ask this...do you folks realize how absolutely eaten up with he goofies you look parsing that a certificate that validates a live birth is somehow vastly different than a birth certificate simply because it has the word "certification" on it? A "certificate" is a piece of paper. That is what "certificate" means. A "certification" is an act that validates information as LEGAL.

*I* ain't the one looking eat up with the dumbass here.

They are called different names because they are different documents. The actual birth certificate has MUCH more information on it that a mere certificate of live birth. The COLB is an addition to a birth certificate, not a actual birth certificate. IIRC,a stillborn baby is still issued a birth certificate because the baby was born. A COLB proves the child was born live. I am not sure, but I am GUESSING they started doing this because too many people were creating false identities using the birth certificates of babies that died at birth or were still born. A baby that was born live is obviously a harder identity to use because they have paper trails beyond the hospital.

So fucking what? The only piece of information that is needed is place of birth.

A COLB proves the child was born live.

There is also a Certificate of Stillbirth and thus, I am sure, a post hoc Certification of Stillbirth...

Capice, Koala?
