Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday vetoed a bill to require President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove their U.S. citizenship before their names can appear on the state's ballot. The bill vetoed by Brewer on Monday would have made Arizona the first state to pass such a requirement. The Arizona bill included proof-of-qualification for all candidates appearing on Arizona ballots, with those varying by the office sought. Hawaii officials have certified Obama was born in that state, but so-called "birthers" have demanded more proof. Brewer said in her veto letter that she was troubled that the bill empowered Arizona's secretary of state to judge the qualifications of all candidates when they file to run for office. "I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions," said Brewer, who was secretary of state until she became governor in 2009. "In addition, I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president of the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth to submit their early baptismal circumcision certificates' among other records to the Arizona secretary of state," she said. "This is a bridge too far." The certificates are among the documents a candidate could submit in place of a birth certificate.

What does that have to do with a law concerned simply with WHERE a child is born rather than to WHOM he is born? You are either a natural born citizen or a naturalized citizen. There is no third category.

You are either a natural born citizen or a naturalized citizen. There is no third catagory. If your parents are a citizen of the United States. And say the father is in the military stationed in Germany. The child is born in Germany. He is still a natural born citizen because his parents are citizens. By the way you spelled "category" incorrectly.
Yes and you can send away for a certified copy as needed. For instance, I needed a copy for my drivers license and to enter the military. Sure, they could have accessed it themselves, but since I was the one requesting the services, the burden of proof fell to me. All it cost was my time and maybe $15.00.

I have to keep reminding myself that you people really ARE that bleeping stupid. Here is a hot tip for you,Buckwheat. You get this paperwork when you are born. Both the hospital and the state get a copy of the birth certificate. I never even saw my birth certificate until I was 17 and needed it to join the army. Now,I know that a Private E-1 is a MUCH more demanding and higher order of work than that of a mere President,but if I had to produce mine just to enlist in the army,why is it asking too much to have Barry Soetoro produce his before he is sworn in as president? After all,all you or anyone else who is a citizen has to do to "gather the paperwork" is to send a letter to the hospital or to the state to request a certified copy of your birth certificate,and they will mail you one. Now,I realize you probably think that is something really hard to do,but it's not.

Don't forget the truly ironic part of this. The Dims wanted John McLunatic to prove HE was qualified to run for office because he was born in Panama. He had no trouble at all providing his birth certificate,and shutting them up. Seems like almost everybody has forgotten about this.
