Title: Brewer vetoes presidential 'birther' bill

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Monday vetoed a bill to require President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove their U.S. citizenship before their names can appear on the state's ballot.

The bill vetoed by Brewer on Monday would have made Arizona the first state to pass such a requirement. The Arizona bill included proof-of-qualification for all candidates appearing on Arizona ballots, with those varying by the office sought.

Hawaii officials have certified Obama was born in that state, but so-called "birthers" have demanded more proof.

Brewer said in her veto letter that she was troubled that the bill empowered Arizona's secretary of state to judge the qualifications of all candidates when they file to run for office.

"I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions," said Brewer, who was secretary of state until she became governor in 2009.

"In addition, I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for president of the greatest and most powerful nation on Earth to submit their early baptismal circumcision certificates' among other records to the Arizona secretary of state," she said. "This is a bridge too far."

The certificates are among the documents a candidate could submit in place of a birth certificate.

I wold imagine you enforce it by having prospective candidates for the office provide the paperwork needed to prove compliance with Article II Section I.

The Party Leadership are required to sign off on this. In this case both Pelosi and Harry Reed signed statements affirming he was legally qualified to hold the office of President.

This whole argument is like a dog chasing his tail. The professional criminal class we call politicians are going to circle their wagons on this or any other charge in order to show solidarity and professional courtesy. They HAVE to because they rely on a system of mutual assured destruction over each other, and there is no way either side of the ruling party is about to have the party questioned or the party leadership brought up on charges. Bill Clinton proved this when he was impeached and the US Senate refused to even look at the evidence they were OBLIGATED to review, and let him off the hook despite having proof of abuse of office, forcible rape, intimidation, perjury, etc, etc, etc.

No US president is going to be removed from office, and Pelosi,Reed, and others are NOT going to be charged with or tried for fraud. Period. It ain't going to happen.

"I do not support designating one person as the gatekeeper to the ballot for a candidate, which could lead to arbitrary or politically motivated decisions," said Brewer, who was secretary of state until she became governor in 2009.

Brewer is 100% on the money here.

No,she is 100% wrong. A states AG is the gatekeeper on all sorts of things, and any and all of their decisions can be reviewed and repealed if necessary.

What she is REALLY against is one person being in a public position of responsibility that can be blamed for anything done wrong. She is a professional politician and loves the present system where nobody is at fault for anything because nobody can ever find out who made any of the decisions. "It's not MY fault! Some committee decided all that!" is their battle cry.

This is the same reason Congress allows career bureaucrats to write the laws the congressmen are elected to write, and allows presidents to send people to war without congress having to vote for a war. "It's not MY fault!"

BTW,in case it escaped your attention,if Brewer's AG made the decision and it was proven to be the wrong decision, this would reflect right back onto Brewer, the AG's boss. This should be all the proof you need to understand her motives.

You're out of your mind. There is no record in US court of any jurisdiction within the US recognizing the adoption of Barack Obama.

And this ain't even touching on his travels to Pakistan using a [sic] Indonesian passport as an adult,or having multiple SS numbers. Not that any of this matters to the Chocolate Mafia or the kneejerk left. All they care about is his off-white skin color.

It would have been impossible for him to have traveled to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport. UNless you somehow believe that a 21 year old man can travel with a 10+ year old passport.

The SS# bullshit is equally laughable. Is Obama the only Barack Obama in the US? How were the SS#'s obtained and if they were somehow truly comprmoised then OF COURSE a new # would be issued.

No need to carry your birth certificate around. But you can keep it at home and if you run for president you can bring a copy. Or if you happen to have lost it. The original would be at the hospital you were born at or someplace else.

Do you not agree that a person has to be a natural born citizen to be President lawfully?

If you think that you should have to be natural born citizen. How would you enforce that requirement?

Yes and you can send away for a certified copy as needed. For instance, I needed a copy for my drivers license and to enter the military. Sure, they could have accessed it themselves, but since I was the one requesting the services, the burden of proof fell to me. All it cost was my time and maybe $15.00.

Where does it designate that a person has to have a document from the government certifying one's status. Did George Washington have a BC? Tons of previous presidents have uncertain status according to the 'standards' set by the Tea Baggers and have already set the PRECEDENT.

The child is a natural born citizen because of the langugage contained in this law:

8 U.S.C. 1401 Section 301

note the requirement that only one parent need be a citizen.

Nice spin, comrade! Nobody ever said there was,or ever made the claim he was adopted in the US. He was adopted in Indonesia and Soetoro was his adopted father's surname.

Of course you knew that already. The purpose behind your claim was to confuse the issue.

It would have been impossible for him to have traveled to Pakistan on an Indonesian passport.

BullBarack! He was a Indonesian citizen.

UNless you somehow believe that a 21 year old man can travel with a 10+ year old passport.

Uhhh, there is a magical act called "passport renewal". I'm sure you have heard of it.

Is Obama the only Barack Obama in the US?

Of course! That name is about as common as Joe Smith! What was I thinking?

Is there anything you won't try to do to protect your Chocolate Messiah?

I have to keep reminding myself that you people really ARE that bleeping stupid.

Here is a hot tip for you,Buckwheat. You get this paperwork when you are born. Both the hospital and the state get a copy of the birth certificate. I never even saw my birth certificate until I was 17 and needed it to join the army. Now,I know that a Private E-1 is a MUCH more demanding and higher order of work than that of a mere President, but if I had to produce mine just to enlist in the army, why is it asking too much to have Barry Soetoro produce his before he is sworn in as president?

After all,all you or anyone else who is a citizen has to do to "gather the paperwork" is to send a letter to the hospital or to the state to request a certified copy of your birth certificate, and they will mail you one.

Now,I realize you probably think that is something really hard to do,but it's not.

In Obama's case...which home?

Well, the one that would have applied at the time would have been the mansion in Chicago his mobster buddy arranged for him to buy.

Or if he needs one now,I'm sure there are people right in the house he is living in that would be more than happy to do the footwork to push the paperwork forward for him.

Or are you saying the President of the United States is too stupid to figure out how to get a copy of his birth certificate?

The remedy is already in place. Just vote them out.

People who are holding office illegally have to be voted out of office??????

You are either a natural born citizen or a naturalized citizen. There is no third category.

Sure there is. There are at least two more. Imaginary citizens, like Barry Soetoro, and undocumented future citizens, like about half of California and Texas.

If your parents are a citizen of the United States. And say the father is in the military stationed in Germany. The child is born in Germany. He is still a natural born citizen because his parents are citizens.

Don't forget the truly ironic part of this. The Dims wanted John McLunatic to prove HE was qualified to run for office because he was born in Panama. He had no trouble at all providing his birth certificate, and shutting them up.

Seems like almost everybody has forgotten about this.

Seems like they lost all interest in this subject when people started to question the citizenship status of Barry Soetoro, though.

Did George Washington have a BC? Tons of previous presidents have uncertain status according to the 'standards' set by the Tea Baggers and have already set the PRECEDENT.

You really are too stupid to live, aren't you?

Tell me,does REK stand for Robert Kennedy? You are clearly stupid enough to be a Kennedy.

Schnittshow.com: Crazy birther woman hijacks Delaware town hall meeting

The Birfer game will be as effective in hurting President barack Obama about as much as the impeachment gambit got President Clinton out of office.

Privacy law protest long form birth certificates in Hawaii, and if there is an issue in the information on the long form that say would reveal a different father than Barack Obama Sr., it is his business.

It has nothing to do with satisfying the issue of birfers, which is a red herring they cynically use as an issue to a means to an end rather than this allegedly pure devotion to expose the truth to serve justice in America.

I like a country that gives a bit of wiggle room for privacy and does not give in to a mob with torches and pitchforks demanding this man's privacy rights be stripped.

Obama is not going to lose the 2012 election on this. The Clintons and others have shared their wisdom gained from dealing with gambits like this one, and if anything, it will wind up helping to re-elect him.

Which will incidentally be the first time we have re-elected a president since Bill Clinton.

If a bald theft of a presidential election does not keep a boy jorge out of the White House, the house of card of the birfer issue is hardly going to matter in the next election.
