And from my perspective Stone is like the parent trying so hard for the fun of being his 'kid's' friend, he shuns the work of making it grow right and flourish. On Time.Com/Politics we called a thread starter a 'thread parent' to instill some sense of obligation to nurture a good thread taking off. He needs to have rules and standards everyone has to follow, he need to be a good forum parent. I have written him before at length giving him my feed back on what I see work or not work in forums, but really; he is the one who has to stand up and say, "enough" and look to people like McIver and others for feedback on how to make this place run fairly and be a place fun to engage in lively debate and discussion in. With all due respect Stone, you have to ditch some of the ego and admit you need feedback and the help of others to make this place flourish. You don't necessarily need it from me or any other one person, but you are continually trying to do the same thing hoping for different results every time you do so. That is just insane. With all due respect. I know I don't like coming here to focus wrath of hatred on anyone, especially those with whom I do not agree with politically or share a world view with. It would be nice to have a level playing field where articles and pieces are posted properly and when a discussion does not form agreement, people agree to disagree and can conclude a thread though things morphing into strange revenge attempts and grudge matches. Just my take on it. You have many people here with a great deal of posting experience, and you should respect them enough to promote consistency and fairness in how this place runs. Rules are fine, but then someone has to enforce them- and who really wants that job? Who has time for that? AND even then, there is no way to keep everyone happy. It is unfortunate that some people take things too far- and disrupt. It is unfortunate that some people have no self control. He could ask for feedback- and experience from others, but it is his site. We can all go and start our own sites, if we want the headache. I don't want the headache. To: diva betsy ross (#64) People actually like a level playing field and though it is not fun to do a chore that will inevitably alienate some; someone has to do the administrative work which includes setting clear and consistent standards of behavior and enforcing them fairly. And he really is a guy who gets extremely passionate in his beliefs and he needs someone he trusts to work with him to give him a reality check to help keep his perspective. I appreciate it that he is at least mature enough to fess up when he did something that he would not of done except for the heat of the moment. But he can be a good administrator if he gets help from another he trusts who can help him avoid those moments when passion over rides reason. I am not perfect in that regard either and I have worked as a moderator and got slapped for losing my perspective when I got my Irish up over something. If I owned this place, or a place like this, I definitely would get someone's help to keep me focused on what was good for the venue, not just for me and what my ego in the heat of the moment says it wants me to do. It is never wrong to ask for and receive help. That was one of the hardest things I have had to learn in 56 years on this planet.
