Title: CBO Says GOP Medicare Plan Would Double The Cost Of Health Care For Seniors

Accordingly to the CBO estimates, the program would result in seniors paying twice as much for their care – a sum that would total more than $12,510 a year.

Here’s how the CBO sees it going –

The GOP proposal, which would begin in 2022, involves providing a ‘voucher’ – or as Ryan likes to call it, ‘premium support’ – to seniors to help pay for their health insurance. The average American would receive a check for $8,000, representing roughly what the CBO estimates Medicare would have to fork out for the average beneficiary in 2022. In addition to the government’s costs, the CBO estimates that seniors, in 2022, would lay out about $6,150.00 in out-of-pocket costs in the Medicare system. That totals an average cost of health care for participating seniors, in 2022, to be $14,770.

Under the GOP privatization plan, the cost to purchase the health insurance policy would cost about $20,520 per year – leaving the seniors out of pocket in the amount of $12,510 or more than twice what they would pay in 2022 should the Medicare system we currently have continue.

And we’re not done yet.

GOP plan to pay more, get less for grandma.

This is just an opinion. It certainly isn't true. No on knows what the deal will be 10 years from now.

Utter nonsense. The GOP plans to reduce healthcare costs by injecting competition into the system so that grandma can get better care for less. Singapore did it. The problem is that the American left is too stupid to understand this.

leaving the seniors out of pocket in the amount of $12,510...

Or about 100% of the amount the average Sr receives a month in SS.

The GOP plan to "save" SS and Medicare is to have one program pay for the other.

Singapore has a functioning, competitive health care market because the government is in the health care delivery business and all providers publish prices.

As long as the GOP is in denial of the role socialism plays in systems like that of Singapore, they will never achieve Singapore's results.

The GOP has no desire or plan to save either program. They've made it clear that getting rid of both is the goal. This plan transfers senior's meager benefits to insurance companies, who will then decide which grandma is deserving of care and which is not.

No one knows, but we do make decisions in the present that shape the future. Do you want to gather the best information possible when deciding, or go for ideological purity?

Two years ago the CBO claimed Owe-bama care wouldn't add to the deficit.

Thats been shown to be a complete and total fabrication. And its not the first time the CBO has done this, they have a fifty year track record thats simply abysmal on this topic.

I hear you knockin...go back where you been....

Singapore did it.

Singapore has a health care system based upon a progressive scale of subsidy based upon income and a public option for anyone.

Singapore also has a system of government run hospitals and clinics that cannot deny FULL coverage for any illness.

Singapore 100% guarantees coverage of catastrophic illness.

Shown by who? The same bunch that thinks government can increase revenues by lowering taxes and grow its way out of debt? (BTW - how's that working for ya)

Shown by who?

By the CBO that revised its initial report.

As for how things are working out for me, politically I'm pretty happy right now. Owe-bama's failures are mounting up, and becoming more and more evident to voters that don't follow politics like you and I do. The House has forced him to reject his own Budget from two months ago, and made his State of the Union Address meaningless.

Even discerning Leftwingers are furious with him these days, because he's lied to THEM as many times as he's lied to everyone else. When's he closing Gitmo? When's he going to 'cut the deficit in half'? When's he going to end 'Rendition'? When's he going to bring gay marriage up?

Only the blind kool aid drinkers still support him. The rest understand he'll say ANYTHING, to ANYBODY...and then do whatever is easiest for him.

He's Carter without the balls, in other words...and that alone is a devastating reality for you Lefties.

I hear you knockin...go back where you been....
