Oprah won't endorse Obama
in next election: report
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfreys support for President Obama in the 2012 election is likely to be much more muted compared to her high-profile endorsement in 2008, according to a new report.
The talk-show queen, who is ending her daily show this year, instead wants to focus on her new cable network, Popeater.com reported.
"For 2012, much has changed for Oprah, a TV insider told the entertainment blog. She now has own cable channel called OWN that has been struggling to find an audience -- she isn't going to do anything to alienate them.
Unlike in 2008, when a drop in ratings didn't matter as much for the queen of TV, Oprah is now fighting every day to get people to tune into OWN."
Winfreys endorsement of Obama in 2008 was the first time she had gone public with her support of a candidate. But the move appeared to have caused a decline in her ratings.
Her new network would have a hard time absorbing a ratings hit that another endorsement might bring.
