We were told during the 2008 presidential election that the Bush Administration’s policy of military tribunals was anti-American and contrary to our ideals. The reason that the Bush Administration was using them was because they simply didn’t care about civil rights. So the Obama Administration came into office and boldly declared that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and presumably others would be tried in civilian courts. Attorney General Eric Holder 17 months ago heralded the new trial system that would bring the terrorists “to justice.” And the American Civil Liberties Union hailed it as “an enormous victory for the rule of law.” Oops. Today Holder announced that because of local opposition to the idea of trying them in New York, they are going to use military tribunals after all. No apologies for their ill-fated plans, or trashing the Bush Administration for using them.

Why would they need to apologize? Some of the survicors' families want to confront KSM et al. And please point out the section of the USCON in which the US is empowered to hold legal proceedings, including the carrying out of a sentence, of civilians outside of the US.
So give 'em a ticket to Gitmo, it's a lot cheaper than that idiotic show trial at Ground Zero that your boys Barry and Eric tried to pull off.
A) I challenge your assertion that it's cheaper. We're already a trillion plus in the hole on this moronic war on a noun. Meanwhile, they roam free and we get patted down. And starkly missing is a response to the Constitutional question.
You think some airline tickets for the the 9/11 families to go to Gitmo would cost more than shutting down lower Manhattan with all the press and the security required for a couple of years or longer?
Don't be a liar you racist HQ. You know why Nuremberg was chosen to bring the leadership to justice? Because it was the place they held their Nazi rallies at. Same principal, the crime happened in New York City and the defendant should be made to face justice there. The GOP just played on the fear card to trump Obama who weakly buckled.
