When money is transferred to you via PayPal you have to confirm it. That method is via email. I always marvelled at how quickly GOldi would confirm a payment but how long she would ignore a regular email.

I think the confirmation is automatically generated, although I haven't been able to find out what happens when the email address is bad. I have thousands of PayPal transactions under my belt. I have accidentally had multiple payments sent to a non-existent email address. I collected them all by simply buying the domain I used, creating the email address I used, and adding the email to my account. I have 7 emails associated with my PayPal account, one of which does not work because I shut it down but I still get and collect money from it.
It does appear that PayPal is more interested in collecting their 3% than protecting their customers from fraud.

sometimes, sometimes not. i've found that i needed to confirm payments when the money was coming from someone living in a foreign country that doesn't use us dollars. you have to go to paypal, see the payment and click "accept" (or refuse it.)

In the mid part of the last decade, I sold estate items on eBay and I had to respond to PayPal's request for a confirmation for the receipt of funds in the account. Maybe Itzlzha got banned for exposing the real name of a member there. He did that you know. I sure didn't do it. I was just joking about him getting banned for that reason. As far as I know any member on LP is allowed to tie their real name to their user name. I have no idea why Itzlzha chose to do that then blame me for it. You would have to ask him that I guess.
