Several possible 2012 Republican Presidential candidates are in Des Moines, Iowa, today to speak at the Conservatives Principles Political Action Committee (PAC) day-long conference. Notable speakers include: Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich; former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain and Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Several other potential GOP presidential contenders will not be participating.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will not attend, but has recently been in Iowa speaking to other conservative groups. Another absentee is former Gov. Tim Pawlenty (MN), who recently announced his presidential exploratory committee. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will also miss the conference to focus on other aspects of his possible run.
The Conservatives Principles Political Action Committee was established by Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King to encourage Constitutional Conservatives to run for elected office.
